About time a college actually stood up and said enough.
As much as I love his brother here for the Falcons, I’m glad they’re doing this.
At first glance, it seems harsh, but he’d been getting in various sorts of trouble. And the stomping thing is not cool. If you don’t take a no-tolerance stance against onfield assassination tactics, it won’t be long before you could have another Jack Tatum on your hands.
Anybody think a pro team will pick him up? I doubt it, unless it’s for bubkis.
You do the hokey pokey and you kick the Vick kid out… And that’s what it’s all about!
Oh, he’ll be drafted by an NFL team, and it won’t be a throwaway pick.
vick gets drafted the second draft day or late the first day. you heard it here first.
He’d be perfect for the Raiders.
“It’s not a big deal,” Vick was quoted as telling the newspaper. “I’ll just move on to the next level, baby.”
Unrepentant. Cavalier. Expect more of the same.
Is it just me, or does he sound like the next TO?
I was appalled at what his coach said. He sounded sorry that he was forced to kick him off the team. I think the situation called for a little “he has displayed a terrible lack of character, and we can’t have him on the team anymore.”
I really don’t get into judging an athelete by his off-the-field behavior, but Jr Vick is pretty screwed up. I don’t think any NFL team will be doing him any favors by drafting him. He seems like a guy who can go through a few million dollars pretty quickly, and then he’ll just be a creepy druggie with no money, no prospects and a couple years of glory behind him.
Nah. Owens made it to the top, then became a jerk. This guy’s already unraveling. I think a better comparison might be Ryan Leaf or Lawrence Phillips.
Or Maurice Clarett.
And he’ll make more money his first year than most people in a lifetime probably. Ain’t life grand?
I can’t believe you peole are being so harsh. He said it was an accident.
I want to see TO, Moss, Clarett, and Vick[sub]jr.[/sub] on the same team.
Since I’m a Viking fan, I vote Green Bay.
Holy crap, that sounds like a high-concept “reality show”. But I’ll raise you one Ricky Williams and ship 'em all to the Jets – who will dump them all for Vince Young.
KRM, I didn’t see it live, but I saw the replay many times. I don’t care if Mr Vick says it was an accident, I certainly don’t believe it. He freakin’ paused as he stepped on Dumervil’s leg.
FYI: I’m a U of L graduate, but not much of a sports fan, so not too much bias. Really.
The pros may work differently, but colleges as a rule judge everyone by their “off-the-field” behavior. And one law that colleges are supposed to be taking seriously is not serving alcohol to minors. I’ve rarely been prouder of my alma mater than when they stuck to their principles and kicked out my former roommate for doing just that (to visiting high school girls. And knowing his history there was no question of his intentions), even though he had major family connections.
I’m glad my alma mater has finally had the balls to do something about this petty thug. Sadly, I’m sure that he’ll just continue to be rewarded in the greater arena.
Sorry. I meant to put a  at the end of my post.
You know, these kids are handed a golden opportunity, and then they get cocky and think they’re untouchable. I think any boy that makes it to start on a major college football team should also undergo regular counseling, to keep their heads within a manageable size. That way, if they ever make it to the pros, they’ll have the tools to handle the fame and the money and the pressure. Oh, they should also be required to take money management courses, and the NFL should not even look at them if they don’t have a college diploma in hand.
In my little world…
