I didn’t but it did surprise me for a second, because you didn’t see that she was clothed (bare shoulders) until they pulled back to a wider shot. I don’t think it was meant to be suggestive, just perhaps a poor choice of composition.
I really enjoyed this episode. Wonder Woman doesn’t get to be an utter badass all that often, so it was enjoyable here. It reminded me of Gail Simone’s stuff (didn’t she write the first Metabrawl episode?), and I was surprised to see she wasn’t the writer.
BTW, I really, really liked watching BC brawl with Fire. She came *this * close to smacking the Brazilian Bombshell down without having to use her patented Canary Cry[sup]TM[/sup].
Notice the Catman cameo at the start? Catman is being turned into a more important character in the DCU, so it’s interesting that they’d feature him. Likewise, with Supergirl’s ep next week, we see something happen that ties into what’s apparently happening with the comics. While the ADCU isn’t exactly the same universe as the DCU, it does seem to introduce things that echo what’s being done in the mainstream DCU.
Are they continuing his evolution from “Villains United”, where it appears he’s being groomed into the sympathetic antihero type (who’s willing to cross the goodguy/badguy no-man’s-land to act as the heroes’ conscience) rather than out-and-out villain? If there was anyone I felt for in that mini, it was Catman. And possibly Scandal.
Oh, I’m sure they have SOME contact, whether through mandates, or directly. The writers of both the comics and the shows are somewhat restricted as to what they can have characters doing and what major developments they can have happen.
I should note that Canary in the animated series is LESS risque than in the comics. In the comics, she wears fishnets and often has a more revealing boob-compartment.
They were definately grooming him into something much more interesting than he’d been. I believe there is going to be an ongoing Secret Six series, and I’d be surprised if he and Deadshot weren’t main characters in it.
There’s a mini coming out. No word on the possibility of an ongoing.
Its the same Secret Six, minus the obvious members, plus two unrevealed new ones. Gail has said Grundy won’t be with them. She hasn’t said anything about Knockout, but she seems obvious, since Scandal’s still there.
I really liked Deadshot in that mini. Actually, I just really like Deadshot.
If I could pick my lineup for the new Secret Six lineup, I would go with Catman, Deadshot, Scandal, Ragdoll, Knockout and Shade. But I recognize the odds of that are pretty much zero in zero.
Oooh, Shade would be awesome in the Secret Six, but somehow I’d be surprised if Gail Simone picks up on James Robinson’s sympathetic immortal dandy antihero version of Shade. I’m also a huge Deadshot fan (and a Catman fan after VU), and I’ll be following the Secret Six no matter who the mysterious sixth member is revealed to be.
In addition to Otto’s response, let’s face it: having a character as young as the JLU Supergirl in this particular episode would have pulled it that much closer from “yeah, I can see why they show this at 10:30 at night” to “just plain creepy”.
I always liked Roulette as a villainess, and while this episode’s plot fits in with her M.O. perfectly (controlling heroes to fight in her casino/arena), making this an SSoV plot is a bit problematic., since Luthor could find more important things to do with mind-controlled JLAers.
