You wear the hat because you like it. Remember when Boone asked him if he liked the hat and Raylan looked thoughtful and serious when he said he did? There you go - no honoring the foe, just the spoils of war. Why let a perfectly good hat go to waste :)?
It wasn’t big, but I thought Boyd’s father was in the meth business and Boyd was destroying his trailers way back in season 1. Could just be fuzzy memory failing me again though…
Yep, that’s my memory too. There were a few meth trailer explosions; but not much else. I guess meth addicts don’t make bad enough villains.
I thought Raylan said he bought the first hat that fit. I did not think that was Boone’s hat at all. I just can’t imagine Raylan wearing the hat another person had already worn.
Of course it was. It still had the little yellow doodad on the right side of the brim.
Also, it could be considered a trophy. His last big victory before he settled down and stopped having gunfights every other week.
From this interview of Olyphant and Goggins in the NY Times:

Interesting.
Tim Olyphant - a simple man:
*If someone calls me a couple years from now and asks me if I want to do another Raylan, I bet the answer would be yes. There’s a follow-up question, which is for how much?
I’m like, you know, there’s no naked girls in this scene but otherwise this is pretty much everything you’ve ever asked for in entertainment. *
Speaking of fun clips with those guys, check out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWZFWI2McigThanks, that was awesome.
While I was watching those clips, this video was in the side bar. One of the most enjoyable 43 minutes I can remember.
I loved Justified but it got real boring after the limosine/private jet scene (you know what I mean if you watch it, and it won’t spoil it for anyone else).
