I thought Art was bluffing, and that he wasn’t wearing a gun. Where was it? He had his hand at his side. Wouldn’t we have seen a shoulder holster? Art’s jacket was wide open and I didn’t see anything.
If so, that’s more ballsy than Raylan, as Raylan usually is carrying a gun and is fast on the draw.
Art was on duty and thus had his weapon with him. He should also have been wearing his vest.
Was Art tailing Picker and happened to spot the hit man? Or did he know the hit man was going to make an attempt? I’m not sure why Art would be on a stakeout alone. In any case, this show is about characters and I’m enjoying this season plenty. I like to see Boyd back to his old bad self.
Raylan and Art met and became friends when they were both handgun instructors at Quantico, so I’d say Art is pretty good as well.
Also, Art moved his coat aside and presumably had his hand already on his gun when he said, “I’ll shoot you.” So he had a head start on the draw.
I think it’s an awkward season, because there are a LOT of plots going simultaneously.
- Boyd and Ava
- Boyd and Johnny
- The Crowes taking over the whore house
- The internal Crowe disputes
- The social worker
- The Detroit Mafia
… to hit the high points. That makes the season seem disjointed, but I bet some of these will start to intersect.
I was sorry to the see the Haitian get it. He was a wonderful character.
Agreed. I thought he was going to play a bigger part this season.
Art knew from the Canadian that Picker was associating with Wynn Duffy. Presumably, Art knows where Wynn is, or put out a bolo on him, and then sat on Wynn until Picmer showed up. Alan Tudyk was doing the same thing.
I love that Mikey finally got a tough guy line after all these years of “should I let him onto the bus, boss?” lines. You could tell the actor was pleased as punch to get to be badass for a change.
In the diner, the hitman had 4 armed guys to deal with, not just Art, even if Art was the only one standing.
I have to imagine that there is more going on than petty revenge going on between the shrimp guard and Ava. He was well warned by Amazon guard and he has to know whose girlfriend Ava is so I think this might have been engineered to fuck with Boyd by someone.
The red neck Pot lord has got to have more depth of strength than the 5 dudes at the poker table. Surely he’s not out for the count there.
I’m going to need to start using a notepad with all the cross connections and double crosses going on this season. Maybe a little overly complicated but the dialogue and interaction between the characters, the show’s strong point, are still solidly there, imho.
I know how you must feel! I get/got lost in all the plotlines about how much Art and Raylan are dodging each other and things that went on seasons (not just episodes) ago and how they are just now coming into play.
I just know that the number of tense scenes in this episode may be a series high (in terms of number of such things). But I believe the scene at the beginning with Boyd and the old dude in his bedroom was about the best revenge thing I have seen so far – anywhere!
I kept wondering who they were going to kill off next.
And that little guard needs some serious attitude adjustment, so the question is who gets to administer that. I’d love it to be Ava herself.
Well, that depends on what their immediate plan is. If their plan is to blackmail Hot Rod, well, that won’t work, he’s going to summon more muscle than Johnny can muster. But if that scene ends with Hot Rod’s dead body, then Johnny might be able to just take over the operation directly.
What’s the current status of Dicky Bennett? I seem to recall a reference to him being released from prison several episodes ago, but I didn’t catch why he was released.
There was a scene last season where Art quick-drew and smoked someone…I want to say it was with something going on around Winona. Anyway, I remember the comments at the time being something along the lines of, “Wow! Good to see Art still has it. That was Raylan quick!”
Maybe, but I would think the rest of his gang might have there own succession plans, as well as the Pot distribution connections.
Dickie is back in prison after being shot by Raylan, as I recall. I read somewhere that he may not return to the series for any extended time.
I’m still enjoying it, even if it feels like they are setting up a lot of plots that all need to come together just right to overlap correctly and get closure. I just hope the Polish wife is still in the picture even though hubby got killed and she got fleeced of $300 large. Hummina.
And the shrimp guard - yeah, not sure I dig that level of contrivance, but we’ll see where it goes. And, for those who don’t know, the shrimp guard is played by Danny Strong, who was popped up in a few well-loved episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and who has gone onto to be an award-winning screenwriter of stuff like the movie Game Change based on the book about the presidential election. I didn’t know he was still acting.
Glynco not Quantico.
Sorry to revive this, but I watched the most recent episode a second time. I was amused that Daryl Crowe was putting up that “Hang In There” kitten poster. It seemed an odd choice for a bar/brothel/gang headquarters.
And I was pleased to see that the two gangs we saw were racially integrated. (OK, they’re still drug-dealing, murderous gangs, but at least they’re not racists.)
She was on the latest season of True Blood and presumably will be back for the next season. She is very sexy playing a bad-ass vamp and she has a nude scene or two.
I read an article about this season and the show runners discussed this. Ah, here it is:
In what universe does someone run your car off the road and you don’t do anything about it?
Is it the same universe where you double-cross Boyd Crowder, causing harm to Boyd Crowder’s woman no less, and think you’ll get away with it?
And is it the same universe where people you don’t know from Adam take over your home and your store, and you know Raylan Givens, and you don’t say anything to Mr. Givens?
The Nazi guy’s behavior can be chalked up to ignorance, but those other two things really bug me.
