I have a report to finish. It needs to be in the hands of TPTB Monday morning. I don’t want to do it. I gotta though. Tomorrow. I’ll do it tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day.
Now Ima sip on an iced cold beerverage whilst sittin’ upon my back porch cause the weather is gawgeous today!
Having a lazy afternoon. Had a nice time this morning, preparing Halloween decorations. Really only started to plan. We’ll be back in a couple of weeks to put stuff together, then put everything up the week after that.
I’ve been lazing around, playing with a few photos, and now watching Pride and Prejudice (the one from last year).
I’m kinda sleepy, so I’m thinking I’ll take a nap after a bit. Then I gotta get some work done. Yuck.
I have windows open in my house!!! This is a rare occurence. Today the weather is perfect for openin’ up the house. Usually we go from too warm to too cold but it’s been like mid 70’s with the low going to the low 60’s tonight so it’s perfect. No pollen. No humidity (well for south Jawja). It’s gonna be so good sleepin’ tonight! No AC or Heat on… feeling the outside air and the ceiling fan underneath a nice clean sheet (I washed sheets today, my one swipe at being productive)… AHHH… life is good!
It got to 50 here last night, so our windows were closed, too. Except our bedroom seemed awfully cold, enough so that even Papa Tigs got cold enough that I had to get out another blankie, and this morning I found out why – I’d forgotten to close the small window in the master bath. Oops. :smack: And then the house was so cool this morning I actually turned on the heat for about half an hour to take the chill off. It’s been fine since, but I do hate that first-furnace-firing-of-the-season-dust smell.
And then I’ve been sitting here thinking about working much of the day, with a Star Trek marathon on. I got to watch the Space Hippies go to Eden and suck pears and die. And Mr. Spock gettin’ down (musically speaking) with Diaper Girl. It was great. Oh, and I got a bit of work done in between bad Star Trek scenes.
Then I took a lovely long nap.
And now I’m giving serious consideration to an early bedtime. Is it the weather making me want to hibernate? I can’t figure out any other reason; it’s not like I’ve done anything to get tired today. Except laugh at the Space Hippies, but that’s not exactly hard work.
I coulda sworn I posted about dinner <le sigh>
Dinner was very YUMful. I had pickled oysters (don’t make that face - they were delicious), lite clam chowder (broth based instead of cream based), cioppino (most of which is sitting in my fridge) and shared a dessert sampler with my friends. I am so stuffed you could display me on the wall in your den.
Oh, my dinner was lovely, too – some heavenly salmon, really fresh and sweet corn on the cob, some wonderful chewy foccacia bread, and dark chocolate M&Ms for dessert. Yummy indeed!
My day has also sucked. Understaffed and busy is a horrid combo. I’m gonna have some food and a beerverage, climb in to bed, and hope tomorrow is only slightly worse. I’ve had my windows open for the last three nights. It gets down to 65 in the apartment, but I have sheets, and everyone else has a thick layer of fur.
It’s raining! I was awakened by the thunk of a partially filled laundry basket falling from the dresser to the floor. Miss Brandy has just discovered the joys of climbing on our clean clothes, and she decided to do so about 5 this morning. I couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I got up, took the dog out (in the rain), emptied the dehumidifiers in the basement and emptied the dryer. I’ll be folding that stuff pretty soon. But I had to read the funnies, and post. Priorities, you know…
It promises to be a nothing day. **FCD ** has to head to BWI between 2 and 2:30. I built the peach french toast casserole for breakfast, so there’s that. And I’ll need to clean the kitchen and tidy this desk. I’d like to play with clay for a while later. But mostly, that’ll be all the excitement I can handle.
In the dark recesses of the back of my mind, I know there’s something I wanted to post, but for the life of me, the thought is evading my consciousness. I need to make notes. It’s unfair to deprive all of you of my flashes of brilliance…
Morning. Yesterday was lovely, although i didn’t fall asleep until about seven this morning. I bought fabric and paint. I’m doing a luckdragon costume. Luckdragons are pearl coloured, with ruby eyes, manes, and no wings, because they swim in air. I bought a knit fabric- does anyone know that ‘liguid silver’ or ‘liquid gold’? It’s a knit with a really shiny metallic dot print- in white and silver, brough it home, and made a basic cheongsam out of it, and did the first two coats on the mask. Sometime in the next few days I’ll get Mr. lissar to post pics of all of it. Right now I’m trying to figure out the tail/train thing. Do I want to stuff it a little? How will I walk?
Anyway, it’s pretty.
After an excessive amount of work on the costume, Attacks Husband came over and Mr. Lissar came home. We ate dinner, and then Attacks Husband and I went out for Nuit Blanche, for which I cannot find a working link. It’s an all-night all-over-the-city free interactive art thing. There were thousands of people wandering around. We went through a fog sculpture, looked at paintings, stood under trees decorated with wishes, and watched some people chained up and flogging a wall. Well, flailing. With real flails.
It was neat, although muddy, and I think maybe it’ll become a yearly thing. We got back to my place around 1:30, then drank various liquids and chatted until 3. In retrospect, I ought to have had a nice, relaxing adult beverage.
Bleh. Sunday: Moe De Lawn, go to store, replenish the beer supply, come back, vacuum, sweep the kitchen start two batches of chili and wait for people to come watch the Bears/Seahawks tonight.
Yes, I’d normally be going but (A) I don’t like night games, and (B) Gave the tickets to the Kid and her friend.
We had a very nice time at dinner with our friends last night. Instead of going on to do something else after dinner, we came back to our place. Seems our friend had forgotten his debit card and his wife didn’t bring the her purse. So, we ended up paying for their dinner too. No big deal, they can pay for ours sometime. Besides, it was the friend’s birthday.
Today, I need to grocery shop. I’m thinking that I may do a Costco run. We’ll see. I also need to drive my daughter down to the Safeway. She wants to apply for a job there.
I can assure you I won’t be watching any football, but GO SEAHAWKS!
The temps are mild, around mid-60s with night temps in the high forties and into the 50s. So, it’s not too cold. I have the upstairs windows open.
I hope to get to steam cleaning my daughter’s carpet the and upstairs hallway today. We’ll see.
That’s going to be the extent of my ever, so exciting day. I know you all envy me.
I am back from campus and sick. Pity me. My throat is on fire, and I can’t talk. Lovely.
Lots to do, but have no energy. Perhaps I’ll watch Harry Potter 3 today, or the rest of Looking for Bobby Fisher (or is it Searching?-dunno) good movie, though.
Nice day out.
Hope all of you are well. I only read the last 4 posts or so, sorry. Lisslar -I think that’s the stuff I made my son’s “chain mail” out of for a knight costume–the head/neck mail guard part. Good luck with your costume-perhaps some narrow wire in the tail, to give it body and swing?
Geez…last time someone knocked on my door, it was some kid trying to sell me pizza. I want cheesecake. Well, not really, because I had cake after church and then a bit of lunch. Now I’m trying to get inspired to work for a while and then I’m invited to dinner…
Sorry you don’t feel well, rigs. Glad you mentioned Searching for Bobby Fischer. It’s one of those movies I keep meaning to see again. Just went out to the library’s web site and placed a hold on it.
Hope today is better, doggio.
Weekend is feeling very very very short. Data clean-up I need to do is going to take longer than from now till 5:00. Well, I’ll do my best.
My kids are currently cooking breakfast for us. They are such sweethearts. That’s two weekends in a row.
After we eat breakfast, I’ll have to get myself cleaned up and ready to go on all my errands.
I also need to do mucho laundry today.
I haven’t figured out what I’m making for dinner tonight. I guess I’ll figure that out when I’m shopping for groceries. I don’t have a particular yen for anything.
