The Independence Day MMP

Happy Moonday!

It’s already warm outside and feels muggy.

I’ve been awake since 3am, so I have a whopping 3 hours of sleep.
Since I’m up I may as well log into irk and start my day.

So for those of you who celebrate, what are your plans for the Fourth?

I don’t celebrate, not because I have anything against the holiday, but because I will be irking.
My son doesn’t even care about Christmas and his birthday, the Fourth is just another day for him.
When I was a kid the Fourth was a pretty big deal, family get togethers for a cookout, maybe swimming, lots of food and drink.
When I lived in Baltimore, as an adult, I could see the Inner Harbor fireworks from my house.

Now the holiday is mostly an annoyance, too many fireworks too late at night. I’m sure my neighbors will be drunk, loud, and rowdy.

Nothing special on the agenda for today.
Irk and house irk. I’m debating when to get groceries. I was going to go tomorrow but I think the day before the holiday is probably not the best day, we may end up going today.
Ripple started limping a bit yesterday. I can’t find anything wrong with his paw or leg, but I will keep an eye on it today and if he is getting worse I’ll need to take him to the vet.
I have to call and check on the loan payoff. If it’s not paid off by tomorrow I will have to make alternate arrangements, and I suppose put a stop payment on the check.

First!

Plans are still changing, the only constant is going to see the Big, huge, collosal, televised fireworks show.

I don’t celebrate it, surprising, huh?

In fact, I’ll be ‘celebrating’ by doing an extra day of irk. My irk timetable for the week is getting complicated, with 3 jobs and 4 different locations over the next 4 days.

Oh well, it’s money, money is useful, and it’s not as though I had other plans for the week.

btw {{{Midget}}} hope you’re feeling better today.

Well, I’m not first, but I did beat swampie!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Double shift today. And on the Fourth. But considering the 100+ degree Heat Indexes this week, I’m OK with that.

I thought you and Boofae celebrated “Sod Off, Bloody Colonials!” Day;)

The older I’ve gotten, the less I care about July 4.

This year, my mom is having a thing at her house - cookout by the pool for family and friends. So we’ll go up for that, even tho it’ll be hotter’n Hades.

I had a terrible night - it really started around suppertime when my gut was all crampy. I probably shouldn’t have eaten. Anyway, up until pretty close to midnight, I alternated between dozing and praying my gut would explode so I could just die and be done with it. I finally did fall asleep till around 4, when, um, things started moving a bit. The cramping seems to be over, but I didn’t bother packing a breakfast or lunch. We’ll see how I feel as the day progresses.

Mostly now, I feel exhausted. Glad this is a short week for me.

Happy Moanday anyway!

It’s Camel Day and pub night so I will be raising a pint of water to those bloomin’ colonials that we managed to get rid of!

Another lovely hot day here in the land of brown grass and wilting plants…we are truly not designed for this level of heat for this many days. The cats have melted, they do nothing but sleep and then drag themselves to their food bowls before flopping down on the hall tiles because they’re slightly cooler than anything else.

I have sorted out my few days away with the doting parent after finally managing to convince her that Tuesday afternoon is not too late to be leaving her place for the 3hrs drive down to where we need to be. Her biggest concern appears to be the fact she’s got to change her appointment with the hairdresser to the morning instead of the afternoon. Honestly, these oldiewonks with time on their hands, you’d think it would be easy enough

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 90, mostly cloudy and possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse this evenin’. This is pretty much the forecast for the week. Actually this is a pretty typical forecast for this time of year. This mornin’ I shall procure ribs from the burly butcher sto’ (ordered ‘em last Thursday for pickup this mornin’), then da cave needs spiffin’ up, and I shall prepare the ribs along with some chikin boobs and laigs for smokeage tomorrow. Eight of us shall gather at da cave on Wednesday for quality cee-mint pond time to be followed by feastin’ on appropriate foodstuffs for Independence Day. Sides for the feast and munchies for cee-mint pond time are bein’ provided by others. Watermelon shall be dessert. Two large watermelons were procured yestiddy. Plus assorted adult and non-adult beverages shall be on hand. Everyone is responsible for their own adult beverages.

Midget please check in and let us know how you are this mornin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then since I am to go about the public I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate adult type clothin’. Bother!

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I hate the 4th of July. My precious horse Bob was terrified of fireworks so I spent the day with him sedating him at regular intervals. One year on the 4th I discovered my ex has having an affair, leading to the end of our marriage. This year I am working out with my trainer at 9am, then slothing the rest of the day while watching Wimbledon.

I just found a picture of myself online. I reposted it on my Twitter. It was taken in the 90s sometime*, with some friends when we made an indie comic book, issue 4 of Treacle. I’d like to say I’m the dorky one with the bad haircut, but this was the 90s and doesn’t narrow it down. I’m in front, in the red.

*I say in the link it was 1994, but now I think 96.

We don’t have any big plans for the fourth here. Romeo Jr. is too small to enjoy fireworks (the noise would bother him), and Juliet Jr. would rather hang out at home than deal with sitting in the crowds to watch fireworks. We’ll probably do some sort of exploding fun, like alka seltzer rockets, but no fireworks. We may watch them on TV.

My plan is to take one day to chill and nap. I work all week, spend the weekend running around, doing errands, cleaning, etc. I want one day to just hang out, chill with the kiddos, and maybe enjoy something off the grill if Romeo decides to fire it up.

My plans for Independence day are to go to my friend’s birthday party with Nelson. Any fireworks will be on the back forty away from the horse barn and of the non professional kind, so he shouldn’t be too disturbed.

I have been a productive bear. Ribs have been procured and both ribs ‘n chikin are ready for smokeage tomorrow. I have also vacuumed and dusted da cave. Go Me! Bathrooms and kitchen need to be spiffed up a bit but that may wait until tomorrow. If’n I have to hang around while smokeage occurs that would keep me busy. So far the weather is bein’ nice, so I may opt for some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. I’m retired so I can do that.

Batkid y’all were a buncha cool dudes and dudettes!

Got up later than usual, but I think I needed more sleep. It didn’t help anything that I’d gotten up at 5 AM yesterday and hadn’t gotten any sleep since.

I survived the night! Had a cold shower and then slept in the living room, with a less-heavy blanket than usual.

Wednesday I work. I am hoping we sell and ship many OtterBox coolers just because I LOVE their new commercial

I've often had the same expression as that bear when I've been at work. Trailers don't dock and open themselves! :D The OW may go to a pool party we're always invited to if the storms break enough for me to use the bike.

It’s a typical Monday around here. Just the usual hovelwork.

No fireworks will happen at our place, since one of our dogs, Shayna, is scared to death of the noise. I took her to the vet about a month ago, and got her some pills to try to keep her somewhat calm. I’ve had to give her two of them, so far. She used to be this way with thunderstorms, but, that has gone by the wayside. Now, it’s all about the fireworks/gunshots. Good grief.

It’ll be another hot, humid day, around these parts. That just means I’ll be staying inside. I stayed home this past Saturday, because of the heat/humidity. My husband is a model rocket guy, and he’s been going to Champaign, Illinois, for some events they hold over there. Our a/c in the Jeep went tits up, so, no cooling! I was NOT about to sit my old, fat ass out in the kind of heat/humidity we had that day. So, I stayed home, in the a/c, and was MORE than comfortable.
More of the same today, once I get the hovelwork all taken care of. Whatever works, I guess.

I can understand fireworks, but gunshots? Wow.

Yes, our little, podunk town has no law enforcement. At all. The nearest law enforcement, is the County Sheriff’s office, which is around 25 minutes away, at around 20 miles from here. There are folks all over town, that target practice, hunt, etc. LOTS of gunshots, all the time.

I am in possession of a work laptop that I can use at home to log into the company VPN and do drawing for my sweetie as a company employee. There was some discussion and it was decided that to avoid conflict of interest and stuff like that-there, I would clock the time as my regular work hours. I can’t do it at my desk because we’re still using Creo 3.0 and the rest of the company is on 4.0… there’s some weird history there. Anyway, that’s cool - I can work from home all weekend and get paid for it.

Just finished inhaling a McLunch - the chicken sammich ain’t too bad! Tho that may have been a bad choice in light of my crampy gut last night. We shall see…

missred, you haz horses???
