Kaboom! A Dynamite MMP

Spats as soon as I saw ‘barn’ in your alledged joke, I knew what it would be. I first heard that one in 1978, when I was in high school. And believe it or not, it was told again when I was in school for my Navy job. It wasn’t funny other time.

Sorry for the drive-by, but I’m finding I have less and less time to spend here during the work day. But I still love ya all.

Drive-by:

  1. Class tonight. They’re gonna let us play with fire extinguishers. Should be fun.

  2. I’m taking my baby to college tomorrow. ::: sob ::: (just a little, I’m kinda glad she’s finally leaving)

  3. Field trip to the farm for work (preschool) on Friday. Always fun. The one day I get to wear jeans for work! I get to pet chickens.

somehow I don’t think chickens respond to petting the way cats or dogs do - watch out for the ones who don’t like being touched (peckpeckpeck)

I’ll differ on that. You know my B&B neighbors? They have pet (no dinner table in their future) chickens, and the 11 y. o. daughter will take one to her room and pet it while reading a book to it…

That whole family is weird, in a harmless Birkenstock and granola manner.

Yeah, these chickens are like petting zoo chickens. Very tame. They’re funky colors, too, black and white with spots and fancy feathers on top of their heads, like little feathered hats.
Tha farm trip is always fun. The kids love it, but I think I enjoy it more.

You know what’s wrong with the world?

Reports.

Reports is what’s wrong with the world. You wanna know what we’re doing here? Stop in and ask a few questions, we’re friendly that way.

But for the love of all that is holy and fat-free please do not make me waste a day and a half putting together a report that 9 people will look at once, say “oh very nice” then promptly discard and forget about until next year.

The zuchinni stories remind me of mango season in Hawaii. If you knew someone who had mango trees in their yard, you became very wary of persons approaching you with brown paper bags.

Tonight is “Ladies Night Out” for a bunch of my hockey buddies. We’re going to meet at a friends house and do tacos and drink margaritas. Since I (again) have a driver’s license I get to go!

Hockey season opens one month from today. We have about 15 players signed - 13 of them played for us last season. We have a new goalie coming to camp in addition to the two from last season, so it will be interesting to see who makes the cut. I like our back-up goalie but he really had a lot of injuries last season.

Hope everyone is feeling better.

Don’t forget to do the TPS report.

and by the way - what does everyone have against zucchini? in fact zucchini bread is delicious -

mbg, tell me about it. I’ve made multiple copies of two inches of press clips that I know are collecting dust on someone’s credenza in Cancun. What a waste of trees. And don’t get me started on the spread sheets justifying our fees. :stuck_out_tongue:

Zucchini is nothing but a gateway food that leads to holiday fruitcake.

Well, I’ve got a report to do, but I’ll be going to Miami to brief it - I’m pretty sure about that. During today’s command brief, which I didn’t bother watching (they stream it live to all us peons while the bigwigs are in the conference room) I found out my name and my project were mentioned. Reportedly in a good way. So I guess I made an impression on the Captain and the General and now they’re expecting Great Things!!

No pressure there…

But now I’m home. I’ve got rice cooking and water heating on the stove to scald the cabbage leaves. There are a couple of onions standing by to be diced and sauteed, and the ground beef is out to take the chill off it - no need in frost-bitin’ my fingers. If I time things right, I should have it all assembled in about 90 minutes.

Dinner will be leftovers tonight and deliciousness tomorrow. Yum.

**FCD ** will be leaving on Sun evening for Denver, ultimately Littleton (?) CO for a couple-three days. He’ll come back here on Thurs evening, drop off his car at the body shop, then after the Annapolis Sailboat Show next Friday, I’ll take him to BWI again for his flight to Orlando. He’ll be in FL for a week. So I’ll have the better part of 2 weeks home alone without adult supervision. It’d be a great time to have a DopeFest, but no one wants to drive way the heck out here to the boonies, so I’ll just play with clay.

Is it Friday yet??

Well, I would drive out to visit with you, but it would take me a few DAYS. You need to do a briefing here in the PNW! Forget Miami…

Alas, there’s no one in the PNW who cares about my project… It’s the nature of the beast.

I think it is, they are just lying to me to make me work more. Truely devious.

Tonight promises to be interesting. After I leave work I am heading out to meet with my ex. This will be the first time we will have seen each other since the unilaterally decided cessation of romantic entanglement (which by necessity was conducted by phone). I am hoping it goes well and as we have spoken on the phone several times I don’t see why it wouldn’t, but still I remain a tad nervous.

Zucchini is gross. Just my opinion, of course.
Why eat zucchini when you can eat chocolate?
I kid, obviously. I love my veggies. I love spinach, but it’s nowhere to be found except frozen, which is okay. I love broccoli. I love tomotoes. I love cucumbers. I love green beans. I even like lima beans.
I love a good salad with lots of ‘stuff’ in it.

I just don’t like zucchini. Or squash.

Sorry the butt is still hurting Drae

Taters I totally agree with the something important that you were looking for will turn up approx 1 day after you either cancel the original or order a new one. Case in point my debit card expires at the end of this month. I had been assured that it was mailed out. As of yesterdya I still didn’t have the new one in my possesion and I was getting concerned it had been stolen. So after several minutes of the girl telling me if I block it it will also block my current card that has 4 days left on it & me saying yes I understand this - I am prepared for it and her asking AGAIN if I understood that blocking it would block my current one that hd 4 days left I finally got a stop put on it.

Guess what showed up in the mail today…

I would be willing to argue that zucchini bread is one of the greatest things to come out of the agricultural revolution.

But oddly enough I don’t like zucchini in anything else, or even on its own.

I don’t like salad, but I do like fruitcake, if it’s the moist, plum-pudding-type, which means a little bit of cake, and a whole lot of rum soaked fruit.
Baked :counts: five loaves of bread and something that was supposed to be focaccia, although I forgot to poke dimples in it and douse it in olive oil. It’s got basil, mozzarella, and oil-poached garlic in it. I’m making black bean soup in the crockpot, and reading Flashman, which is the most enjoyable enormous helping of history I’ve ever gotten.

Oh, and the liturgical coodinator at our church just called to give me RCIA info for a church that’s running the programme. We need to fill in paperwork, and figure out some way around the fact that I work Thursday evenings, but we might actually get to join the Church sometimes this decade.

About those TPS reports… mmm… yeah. You see, we’re putting coversheets on all TPS reports now before they go out. Did you see the memo about this?
