Kamala Harris and the runup to the 2024 Presidential Election {No more on Guns}

Damn. Do I identify with that feeling.

Perfect way to put it!

Yeah. That’s been kind of a thing:

I suspect it’s because it rhymes with “cautious optimism”.

Well if the “rule” that the Washington football team winning their last home game prior to the election means the incumbent party wins, then maybe there should be optimism? Thought given that the win was the result of a last minute “hail mary” pass, it might mean having to wait on tenterhooks until it actually happens.

Anyone see the Philly guy, I think the Attorney General, who said "F around and find out,"to people who would cause problems at the polls? I like that guy!

Grr, trying to link. Can’t do it on my phone.

No problem. Here you go:

That is awesome. And sooooo Philly.

I don’t see any way Kamala loses, but if she does lose, it doesn’t mean campaigns don’t matter. She would have still lost by a lesser margin than if she’d run a bad campaign, and her effect might have still netted the D’s a couple more Senate seats or House seats than had she run badly.

If she wins Iowa, and yet loses a national election in which Trump was outspent, it will sure look like Democratic Party campaigning does not work.

I still wonder why— despite trying to look professional, sane, educated, etc. — the Dem campaign’s first ad (no matter WHOM it was at the time) did not start off with— “WHY VOTE FOR THIS DIPSHIT, this guy who has never been a success in any forum— casinos, football, real estate wannabe— as other than a bullshit ASSHOLE??”

I reject this mindset that assigns blame to the Democrats if the Republicans win. It treats the right as if they have no agency at all.

Because however much that would have made you happy, many people are turned off by cursing/vulgarity. Not me, mind you - I’m perfectly happy referring to Trump as a feculent boil on the asshole of society. But many, MANY people, even sane ones, hate that kind of approach. Especially some of our older, more demographically reliable voters. You don’t want to alienate pearl-clutchers with super-aggressive rhetoric involving profanity, because pearl-clutchers vote.

Fuck 'em. They are a rapidly shrinking disingenuous minority.

A vote is a vote. I don’t think there is any research indicating that going full-on scatological will gain you votes. It’s just a vent for people’s frustrations who want to scream into the void about what a shitty candidate Trump is. But it gains you nothing (far as I can tell) and loses you something. It’s just shooting yourself in the foot over something that is pretty trivial.

He should have just said “Fool” not F. Sounds smoother and everyone knows what he meant. Also Kamala if she wins to immediately start thinking about the next election and working with the Democratic Party to shore up weak spots.

I don’t think the point is to be shouty and insulting, the point is to finally say the obvious truth instead of circling around it with overly nice euphemisms. Absolute chaotic disaster is looming and the Dems are still pussyfooting around it like it’s situation-normal.

You mean the guy that successfully won the 2016 presidential election?

No! His verbiage was perfect for Philly. We understand why a DA can’t say “fuck” at a presser, but we have no need for him to bowdlerize beyond using the initial, and his tone—which implied a strong desire to use the actual phrase—was just right as well.

But only when Democrats curse. Trump has been swearing a blue streak for months, and these selfsame pearl-clutchers dismiss it as locker room talk by a “salty sailor” who “tells it like it is”.
