Kamala Harris and the runup to the 2024 Presidential Election {No more on Guns}

you can see in walz face that he knows how soul crushing that is. as a teacher you see kids who do not have a safe home. school is their safe place. you try to be the teacher that your students can tell you the difficult thing.

the video shows why i came to think that walz was the best choice. they are a tight team. i did not see that team with the other vp prospects.

I could see Shapiro being a good professional partner but not with this chemistry.

I hadn’t considered that but you’re right. There’s probably a well timed bump waiting to happen right there.

Sorry if this was already posted in one of the many threads, but here’s Kamala’s campaign’s press release from yesterday:

in the video, walz mentions his father’s death and social security. at 19 he would have been impacted by the cuts reagan did for child survivors. his mother and brother would have gotten benefits, he may have hit that cut off line. there was bit of “if this, then that” hoop jumping.

i remember hearing of people in the harris/walz birth year trying to figure if they could graduate high school and get into college to keep the benefit (this happened to a family member, and she is still hot about it). each year the benefit would be cut a bit. some really scrambled, others just gave up.

just saw the above. wow! that is quite the release.

That was perfect.

A sign in Alabama. I just love this sign. Such smart campaigning. I think it’s so effective for certain folks to see it and know you can have voted for Trump in the past but you can now just ever so quietly make the switch.

I love the phrasing they come up with:
“We’re not going back”,
“We made the switch”.

Or describing
Trump as “the same old thing”,
Vance as “weird”.

There is one (or likely more) campaigning genius working for Harris.

Plus, it has a “school blackboard” vibe to it that fits with Walz.

Facts and statistics is not Trump’s thing and never has been. For that matter, facts and statistics do not carry over particularly well in televised debates. Trump will simply call everything Kamala says “fake news” or “junk science” and then make up his own facts and statistics and the typical viewer will not tune in afterward for the talking heads to do their fact-checking.

I hate to say it, but Joe Biden scored more points against Trump in 2020 by saying, “Will you just shut up!” to Trump than Hillary did in 2016 with all her intelligent, cogent, on-topic arguments. Kamala needs to go into Prosecuting Attorney mode with a strong dose of, “I’m speaking now!”

‘Mr. Trump, did you not learn to take turns in kindergarten?’

– though I don’t know that she’ll come out with that.

“Mr. Trump, I understand why you’re so hostile to me. I’m a former prosecutor, cut from the same cloth as those men and women who convicted you of your felony crimes.”

Trump is certainly concerned about an interest rate reduction. He’s been trying to pressure the fed for months.

This kindergarten teacher tried to explain to Trump why the mean FBI had to take his things away.

Xitter has gone back to telling me that I can’t see anything unless I sign in.

I made a terrible error. I must apologize. I posted that interview with Harris and Walz upthread and in it Walz is revealed in another one of his horrible lies!. He says that he eats “white guy tacos” with just meat and cheese and no spice. However, some intrepid reporters did some deep digging and found that one of his winning hotdishes was a Turkey Taco Tot Hotdish.

Among the ingredients were “1 can diced mild green chilies,” “1 bottle taco sauce (medium)” and “chili powder.”
MSN

How can I support someone who claims to like bland tacos but then uses a recipe calling for canned mild chilis and chili powder??? And medium taco sauce??? Not even mild, but medium??? Talk about stolen valor! This is much much worse? He may have lied about his spice tolerance. He is clearly not fit to be vice-president.

Kamala Harris presented some economic plans today. Among other things, she has pledged to reinstate the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit; stop price gouging at the grocery store; and build millions of homes.

From a campaign perspective, I think this is a good idea. She is showing leadership. She’s also offering a representation of classic statesmanship against the toxic whirlwind coming from the opposition. For voters hoping for a return to normalcy, hearing a candidate with a platform that they will openly endorse must be refreshing.

(And for those who react by claiming “socialism!”, well, what else is new? They weren’t going to vote for her, anyway).

Thanks for posting that video. I’m more impressed than ever – they’re both so intelligent, well-spoken, and, yes, authentic.

Worse: it’s stolen calor.

Well played.

Bien hecho.

Again, not sure which is the best thread for this but Randy Rainbow is at it again (unfortunately, you have to put up with a sponsoring ad but it’s worth it).
