Kamala Harris and the runup to the 2024 Presidential Election {No more on Guns}

It’s more like clips from social media will reach the undecided/low info voter. So I hope Kamala gets a few good punches in.

I’d say she did what she had to do, and then some, in the debate. Large panel discussing the debate on CNN right now and they’re all saying she did a fine job. Well, the token right-winger is trying to downplay it but he’s not doing well.

Yeah, he’s blaming the moderators.

And the next guy says “It’s really hard to blame it on the refs when you’re not making your own jump shots.”

Taylor has spoken.

But now they’ve switched to their other pet Pubbie, Scott Jennings, and he’s admitted “overall she dictated the flow” and that she won.

Considering how the debate went, this is a good thing.

I still don’t understand how or why anyone is still undecided. Hopefully, the fact that some of these folks are learning and leaning toward Harris is a positive sign.

It’s something several of us have been saying - there’s probably not a lot of true “undecideds” but plenty of “undeclareds”, i.e. people who have a preference but don’t want to state it publicly for whatever reason.

The hope with the debate was never really about changing anybody’s vote. I think I saw an instant reaction poll last night that indicated only something like 5 or 6% of people “might” change their vote based on the debate (meaning well over 90% won’t). That means even fewer, possibly none, actually will.

It’s been primarily about encouraging or depressing turnout. Good PR and good debate performances hopefully help GOTV efforts by building enthusiasm for showing up at the polls. While bad PR and debate performances hopefully discourage people who might vote for your opponent from doing the same.

And money. Big donors will be watching what small donors do after the debate to help them decide if it’s worth shoveling money into an affiliated super PAC. Who has the most enthusiastic base after a debate is very important and donations (unlike most polls) are a rock solid indicator of where that enthusiasm lies.

Ms Akaj and I could only make it through about ten minutes of the debate before our disgust with Trump had us grabbing for the remote.

I’ve read that Harris acquitted herself well, but don’t want to read the 1000 posts in the watch-along thread. Can someone please share an account of her best moments?

I’ve looked at several clips (won’t watch the whole thing), and from what I’ve seen, this might be the best three minutes.

Thanks – I enjoyed it immensely. Go moderator!

She should have just responded “That’s what we are talking about when we say he is weird” and “See how easy it is for him to go off the rails, if I can do this just standing here, think about how Putin will play him”.

I think the look incredulity mixed with pity for such a small man was Harris reflecting the electorate

Trump is now saying that abc should have its broadcast license revoked.

“It was a rigged deal as I assumed it would be because when you looked the fact they were correcting everything and not correcting with her,” Trump said Wednesday.

Yet another reason the man should never be president. He will go after any company that he feels is against him. If you think your company will not get thrown under the trump wheels, think again. Look at what his best buddy orban did. That is his playbook.

Here’s Heather Cox Richardson’s summary. Sampke:

The question for Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris in tonight’s presidential debate was not how to answer policy questions, but how to counter Trump’s dominance displays while also appealing to the American people.

She and her team figured it out, and today they played the former president brilliantly. He took the bait, and tonight he self-destructed. In a live debate, on national television.

Well no shit. They weren’t correcting her because she wasn’t spouting complete bullshit.

How so? Was it when he went off about Haitians eating dogs in Ohio? I’d just consider that his normal MO, not a self-destruction.

I hope her polling continues to improve and this is a slam dunk. It’s scary right now.

The problem with this is that people might become complacent. I’d first like to see his social media stock sink to bottom and for him to be forced to pay the judgements he has against him. Then publicly flogged and humiliated and then be put in the stocks in the town square. Then lose the election.

Oh wait, he was publicly humiliated last night. Onto the stocks I say!
