Kamala Harris's choice of Tim Walz as VP

I had already mentioned the disable reporter in the post above this one. Republicans are awful people.

Moderating: Please be careful with the broad brush. Trump and those that support him insulting and mocking the disabled and disrespecting the families of fallen soldiers are awful people would be the correct brush to use.

I realize I’ve likely missed it but where is anyone talking about Walz’ son? I did a cursory search and only found an article in People that was a nice profile about Gus and the rest of the family.

FALSE
After presidential hopeful (and current U.S. vice president) Kamala Harris picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate on Aug. 6, 2024, rumors began to circulate that he had signed a bill allowing gender-reassignment surgery for children:

I am very impressed with how Walz addressed the criticism of his military service. He didn’t get defensive and he didn’t attack Vance. I know people see him as this benign midwesterner but I think he actually has some killer political instincts.

Heh.

Mind you, first you’d have to find a McDonalds with a functional McFlurry machine.

The criticism falls pretty flat. Sure, he should not exaggerate his service. But he was there a long time. Compare and contrast with Trump going to an exclusive academy with some degree of discipline.

The latest vicious and devastatingly clever attack on Walz? He doesn’t own any stocks, bonds or real estate! What a maroon! We can’t trust him! He doesn’t love America!

They’re scrambling to attack him, and that’s only because they can’t come up with anything that works against Kamala. Talk about a floundering campaign, if you’re struggling to dig up some kind of dirt on the VP.

Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz questioned how Walz could relate to the average American when he doesn’t own a home.

Home ownership rate is around 65% in the US. That means over 100,000,000 Americans don’t own their homes. I guess they’re not “average Americans”.

I suspect a lot of people on the right are underestimating Walz.

Jumping in late here so maybe this point has already been made.

I don’t think we can ignore the demographics. The Republicans are making an issue out of Harris’ race and Harris’ gender. They want to portray the Democrats are the party that hates old white men.

So the Democrats put an old white man on the ticket to reassure scared people.

He was a teacher for decades, they do not earn a lot of money.

He is about the same age as Harris- 1 year difference. Teaching ages you.

Kind of like Speaker Johnson having no assets. No retirement plan, no mutual funds, no stocks.

But, that’s not unusual. At all.

Kamala is a very well preserved 59 year old woman.

Yes, at least for the last handful of decades that has been the standard. Pair your nominee with a VP that checks different boxes.

Biden was matched with Harris because of the opposite situation (old white guy, add a woman of color).

Trump got mixed with a more traditional Republican who appealed to the religious crowd in 2016.

Obama was paired with a white guy who had a long track record in politics.

And so on. It seems like a successful formula. Even now, Trump is trying it with a younger guy who didn’t hide when called to war. (Okay, maybe it doesn’t always work out great.)

Better yet, they were born in the same year – 1964. Tim was born in April. Kamala in October. The difference is more like 6 1/2 months. On election day, they both will be 60.

I’ll bet Walz would be the last person who would want to monitor his son’s browsing.

Yes, that is what I said. Waltz is only about a year older.
