Trump? He doesn’t care if it’s a 2-slice toaster. He’s all that matters.
Harris is leveraging her pick to round out her ticket appeal even further. Walz will draw a certain amount of votes. Vance is already needlessly ostracizing plenty.
I’ve heard a lot of tone-deaf remarks in my time, but “Tampon Tim” has to be among the worst. In addition to the fact it refers to his record on women’s health access, which will remind women what a good candidate he is, it’s downright insulting to women to imply that something about a completely natural process (and one that supports all those babies that the right-wingers want us to make) is dirty and demeaning.
Nice going, Trump team! Please oh please, keep it up.
Trump is so big on the Wall that Harris just sent him some Walz.
I loved everything about that rally. The energy, the excitement, the laughter.
Shapiro did a great warm up, and the commentors addressed the issue of his sounding like Obama. Obama is often considered the best orator in a generation, so he took pointers. Kinda like an earlier generation tried to emulate JFK.
Harris gave a wonderful introduction along with a positive message of what the administration will go after.
Then Walz spoke, and is awesome. He is very authentic. They all feel that way.
Someone said Walz is who Vance claims to be.
I think Walz is easy for older whites to identify with. He’s got great cred in taking care of people. His history is a lifetime of serving others over himself.
National Guard, teacher and coach, Representative in Congress, Governor.
Trump can whine all he wants that Walz is too liberal, I think Walz has solid progressive cred to excite the younger voters, but is mild enough to let sane conservatives find him more palatable than Trump. At least I don’t see him running off moderates.
I was responding to a post in the other thread before I realized it was locked so I’ll just respond to it here:
He’s not going to say the die hards, of course, but there are probably republicans who are sick of Trump but couldn’t find themselves voting for a brown California woman and are trying to talk themselves into the ticket. They’ll reach for reasons they can justify the vote they want to make and giving them someone they can solidly like is a good move. They’ll be motivated to ignore the policies and differences and find the similarities. This is why it was such an obvious smart move to take some sort of likeable white guy to your ticket – Biden more or less served the same role for Obama. Especially if he’s got some kinda “like to have a beer with” charm and some manly cred - the hunting photo ops will go over well.
Since Walz showed support for the LGBT community in a high school while he was a football coach, I assume he will be accused of grooming in short order.
I really hope they don’t hype his military experience. It’s already being turned against him in a way I’m having a hard time disagreeing with. Stick to the dad vibes and political experience.
