Lilacs brings up a good point: July and August in the Kansas City/Topeka area are usually very hot and humid–does anyone prefer to have this inside at a bar-and-grill or other eating establishment?
It was fun having it outside last time, of course, but we were lucky in that it wasn’t too hot, and the rain came only at the end of the Dopefest. If we do choose a restaurant, we definitely need to make sure that it offers up enough non-meat choices for our vegetarian Dopers. I’ll initially suggest this place, because it’s chocked full of family fun, and because it serves french freedom fries.
Which is a vegetable… right? 
Skip, I was at that place last night. I had FRENCH Fries and a grilled cheese, and let me tell you it rivals Waffle Houses grilled cheese. On top of that my waitress offered to help me get into their golf tournament for the all you can drink thing. Not that I frequent those places of course… I dunno, I know w had discussed Stephenson’s last time. I dunno, Im getting kinda familiar with the local parks while in search of Disc Golf (Swope Park and River Front are the only two on my side of the state line)

Would your parents be okay with that, though? I mean, if they have problems with you driving by your lonesome to meet with us nutty-bunnies, will they have issues with you being picked up by a Doper?

Maybe I should get a friend to take me, and just say that we went to the movies or whatever.
Yeah, yeah, I know that lying to the parents is a bad idea, but I never go anywhere. I haven’t even been to a concert for over a year. I go and hang out with my friends after school maybe one a month. They have no reason to be suspicious of me. If I wanted to go spend the day with my friends from school, they’d let me, even if they’d never met any of those friends. Why should my Doper friends be any different?
July 27th would work, though.
I see, you all just want to lure me into my short-shorts for the afternoon. Sick people, leave me be! Oh yeah, and the 27th would work for me. If we go to a kid friendly place I might bring my little cluckers, otherwise I’ll be flying solo.

hmmm, maybe I can actually come to this one. I will ask for that day off, and not have to debate about calling in sick.

Now, does everyone want to meet inside, outside, or… ? Because of the varying heat in the summer, I wouldn’t mind meeting inside at a restaurant or bar-and-grill this time. What say you?
The 27th looks pretty good for me. And I’d be okay with either inside or outside… but inside sounds like it might be the way to go.
What about one of our fine KC eateries. Blue Bird, Bo Lings, LuLu’s, … (Ok those were all vegetarian specialty places, but we have some serious good eats in this town. JoJo’s Itallian eatery (cheap, good, italian…), Manny’s (Tex-Mex), or we could even meet at the Nelson, the Zoo (Ok, so that one’s outside), Swope Park (did somone say Disc Golf? Id love to!) Hooters could be fun too, but if were going that route why dont we go the whole nine yards and meet at Bazooka’s (please dont tar and feather me for that one, it was a joke)

Manny’s is a dine inside kinda place, only. You can see their menu, though, right here.
I like Manny’s; they have good food. They’re right on Southwest Boulevard, so I think they’re pretty easy to find. Take a look at the map on this page and see if finding it will be a problem.

OK, since it seems we have it narrowed down to a resteraunt, how about we get it narrowed down to 3 or 4 and do a poll. http://www.pitch.com/issues/current/dining_toc.html has a good listing. Hell, we can use meetup.com to make it a monthly thing. I dunno, Im all for anything that has a vegetarian option, even if it is grilled cheese.
