Guilty!
Because she apologised due to public reaction, not because she actually thought that she did anything wrong.

As opposed to most other celebrities who are genuinely sorry…?
FWIW I don’t always think an apology absolves someone from judgment for what they did. If you hit your spouse and then say sorry, it doesn’t change the fact that you thought a shitty thing to do was okay to do. The only real test of sincerity is future behavior.
(ETA: Hitting is a bad example because patterns of abusive behavior almost never change.)
To whom was the apology directed? Trump? I don’t think so.
To the offended snowflakes, obviously ![]()
And here I had almost forgotten who Kathy Griffin was. She’s relevant again!
It also cost our country its human baby cannibalism virginity. It is now ok to eat human babies in this country.
Kathy don’t give no shit about the public. It was money. She lost possible ad revenue because of this and to keep from losing further monies she is pretending to be sorry.
She lost her mind years ago, long before the most recent election. She’s an irrelevant D-lister doing stupid stuff for attention and look how well it’s working.
She may have had a funny line or two during Suddenly Susan, but she hasn’t been in the neighborhood of humorous since then.
Also, are the producers of Castaway and the Wilson Sporting Goods Company planning on suing her for copyright infringement?
I was responding to Wesley Clark who certainly was doing what I said. I was amused that his second link was from the “Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI)” protesting Obama’s visit there in 2010 cite. LOL. Great example of the right doing similar.
I dropped that line of thought, and his quote, when I finally went to post my reply because I was mostly interested in posting the actual picture, not just a description like many outside the board are doing. I left in one sentence too many.
Hope that clears things up with you.
I saw this story on the TV news this morning. They showed the photo, but with a blurred-out Trump head.
But what struck me was that they showed some video clips from the shooting of the picture, with a professional photographer and set. I would have thought something this stupid was done on a whim with whatever camera happened to be lying around, but no, this was a full production. Did no one pull her aside and inform her what a bad idea it was?
I guess I can accept sudden impulsive stupidity from a single person, but premeditated stupidity from multiple people? I don’t get how that could have happened.
It would have been fine if it hadn’t been so “Game of Thrones” gory and realistic. Violence can be funny if it’s cartoonish or implied, but not when it looks like actual carnage.
Example:
Elmer Fudd gets hit on the head with a hammer, an erection-like knot pops up and little birds circle his head, and he passes out- that can be funny.
An actual fat bald short hunter with a speech impediment is hit on the head with a hammer, the skin breaks and the skull cracks, there’s an arterial spray, there’s a look of terror and confusion on his face and then he loses consciousness with a very real danger of bleeding out- that’s probably not funny.
My main disappointment isn’t that Kathy thought a headless Trump was funny so much as she thought a realistic headless Trump was funny. (Woman: you’ve been in the business 30 years or more, what were you thinking?)
The thing for me is that Griffin is the type that has the “I never apologize” aspect to her comedy. Hence the fact that she is apologizing now carries more weight. It’s the first time I’ve thought that policy might actually be a good thing.
As for no one telling her it was a bad idea–she’s the comedian. She’s the expert. I’m sure some people said stuff like “Are you sure this’ll be funny?” But she probably reassured them the way she usually does. She may have even said she’d take the blame if it didn’t work.
I wouldn’t completely rule out the idea she did it for publicity. She does silly outrageous things normally. She could feel that she needed to up the ante to get noticed in the turmoil.
I can’t begrudge her for it, because, while it wasn’t funny, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I absolutely will not get offended on behalf of Trump. He’s horrible, and he deserves any offense that anyone causes him. If I thought it was a real threat, that would be different. But it’s not.
Eh, president fuckwit suggested to his supporters to kill Hillary Clinton last year. The coarsening of political discourse did not begin with Kathy Griffin. Your point?
Oh yeah? Then why did I just laugh?
OK okra, I’ll be the response you were hoping to get.
“What the? Gasp! How could I be so blind? I have no words to justify this horror! FOX news was right! All liberals are gross meanies who behead people! I see that now! How could I ever have voted against Trump? He deserves our sympathy and admiration! I’m changing my voter affiliation right now in response to just this one example! Take me back, White Jesus!”
Is that what you wanted?
OK, was I the only one who laughed out loud on first viewing the picture?
Huh. Seriously, most of what I’ve seen of her for the last few years has been her co-hosting the New Year’s show with Anderson Cooper, doing the “crass bitch torments serious preppy” schtick. Had not realized she was moving into the shock realm.
Thing is, you have to be very good to do “shock” well. She’s not that good.
Kathy Griffin is an obnoxious asshole. Butt she’s been an obnoxious asshole for a very long time. She’s also a comedian, and an “entertainer”, which means she can’t be held responsible for anything she says or does. It was a joke, folks. Not all jokes are funny. I am so sorry that so many people object to this particular joke. I thought that an ISIS-like pose with a severed head was hysterical. I’m so sorry more people don’t enjoy this type of tasteless humor.
I notice that Kathy Griffin, obnoxious asshole, didn’t apologize to Trump. At this point in time, she only appears to be trying to save what’s left of her career.
Update - CNN has terminated their association with the obnoxious asshole Kathy Griffin. No New Years Eve show. I wonder how many more job opportunities she will lose?
Well, it is 2017.
You can’t expect Kathy Griffin to just sit quietly and work on stitching names into her knitting.
Actually, a loop of Kathy Griffin dressed as Madam Dafarge knitting steadily should be broadcast in the lower right hand corner of every televised Trump speech for comedic effect.
