How dumb are they? Yes, I’m up there with them for watching them, but they laughed at a picture in which a hospital had a sign for gynaecology and restaurant (they must have both been down the same hallway). The juxtaposition was funny, but some of their hilarity was that the hospital had a sign with a misspelling. Are they really unaware that it is not a misspelling?
Then they laughed at a sign stating a parking space was reserved for drive-through customers. I am guessing they never go through a drive-through, because most McDonald’s around here have those in order to get people whose orders aren’t finished out of the line so the rest of us can keep moving.
Is it ridiculous for me to expect them, or someone on the show, to know this? There is a lot I don’t know, but I don’t have an entire staff checking things for me.
It was a segment on a talk show that aired this morning. I actually saw the segment mentioned by the OP and I had similar thoughts. During this particular segment the hosts show some photos of funny signs like “Ugly People Eat Free Today” and have a good laugh over them. One of the signs they showed was a parking space reserved for drive through customers only. Kathy Lee and whoever the other host is thought this was funny. I can only guess that either the writers of the show or the two hosts are unfamiliar with drive through fast food restaurants.
I wonder if everyone on their staff is as clueless as they are, or if they let this stuff through because they think it’s funny for Kathy Lee and Hoda too look like idiots on national television.
Thanks for the move. I wasn’t sure which forum, but I knew it was mundane and pointless, so I chose that! I think women of a certain type think that looking stupid is charming and feminine. I thought those days were over.
Was the sign in the United States?
ETA: I saw her pic on the wikipedia link above. “Hot” is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but I didn’t see her as particularly attractive. Skin tone looked a little leathery, imho.
I can see how that sign is amusing. People don’t really park in a drive-through. That’s why they’re called drive-throughs. Unless things have changed in the past few years.
I have lived in NYC, and love NYC, but have to admit the people in NYC are often quite clueless about anything that is not found in NYC. The Today Show is notorious for making blunders about anything that is not found/done/seen in Manhattan. This comes from the quite true stereotype that New Yorkers believe they live in the center of the universe and everything else is unimportant. (They do appreciate the rest of us farmers providing goods and services.)
Kathy Lee and Hoda are perhaps the most obnoxious of the obnoxious. In our house, they have helped keep us fit and healthy! You have never seen people run so fast for the remote control when we hear either of their voices.
Here’s a clip of one of the greatest moments on their show. It is of a local semi-celebrity chef, Sam the Cooking Guy, who tells them to be quite so he can explain his recipe. And the two bitches get all bitchy.
