Now that the hampsters have had a snack, let’s try this again.
The other day I had a pretty major computer crash. It sucked, but not as bad as it could have. Fortunately I keep all my data on my D: drive so it was just a matter of wiping C: clean and reinstalling windows.
What I did have on C: was my AOL PFC and my IE favorites (and probably some other stuff which I’ll discover in the next few days). How can I point AOL to look on D: for my PFC, and how can I point IE to look on D: for my favs?
I want to keep both programs on C: I only want data on D:
OK, I know it’s not the most interesting thread in the world. If I could’ve posted some pics of naked creationists performing acts of BDSM I… well no, that probably wouldn’t go over too well with the mods.
So I have nothing to offer but a genuine thank you to any knowledgeable person who cares to help. Any takers?
For IE under Windows XP one possible solution is using Tweak UI from the Microsoft Powertoys for XP. This lets you change the location of your Favorites folder among many other things. I think there should also be a more low-level way to do that but this is pretty safe and easy.
You can also change the location of your Favorites folder by editing the appropriate value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
User Shell Folders in regedit. Be sure to back up the registry before attempting any changes.
