According to his profile, Freak’s last post WAS in that self-destruct thread. Which was definately the most bizarre meltdown I’ve ever witnessed anywhere on the Net.

I cant seem to find it right now, but how about Phaedrus’ last, spectacular post? Some of it was even written, he claims, in a Native American language (I can’t remember the name of the tribe, unfortunately).
I wouldnt wish for anyone to ever have to read the Flat Earth Thread, thankfully it didn’t make the crossover.

Your overlooking a very important aspect here absoul. Your forgeting that Freak had an impressive post count when he left. As a result, he had input in damn near every post around here, and exposure to a number of posters. He had a history and a reputation.
From what I can tell, Freak had either endeared himself to some of the posters here, or he had completely pissed them off. It was an all or nothing kind of deal. I, personaly, never saw much a middle ground. You either loved or hated him.
In my case, I couldn’t stand him. I couldn’t stand him with a passion. In my opinion, his posts were some of the most obnoxious, vile, hate filled rants that I had ever seen. He was truly without contempt.
It wasn’t always what he wrote that irked me, either, it was what he represented and implied that pissed me off . He was an angry, dissasociated, chip-on-his-shoulder, knows everything at nineteen, rebel-without-a-clue-or-cause, spewing reject of life.
Personaly, I saw this trait the first time I ran across one of his posts. It made me ill. Unfortunately, it was right after I first joined this board and my feelings towards him never had much of a cance to change after that.
So, it was with this air of ‘love ‘em’, ‘hate ‘em’, floating around this board that his thread finally emerged. I saw it the first day it appeared, and, as before with anything associated with Freak, avoided making any posts to it. I didn’t post to it for awhile, but I followed it. I was hoping, just hoping, it would go the way that it did.
I knew, from a previous thread I was involved in with Freak, what he was capable of. Given enough time to continue on with his ‘story’ of the woman, the story would soon implode on itself and Freak would be left revealing his ‘true’ self to the board. It was inevitable and scary. It was also unfortunate.
When he finally did, thankfully, the minions responded en masse, myself included. As far as I’m concerned, it was bound to come to what it did. With all the pent up anger that was present at that time, I doubt it could have gone any differently.
My only regret is not going after him harder than I did. Looking back, my posts to that thread were tame in comparison to what I was thinking at the time. I was so worked up I couldn’t post straight.
So, absoul, keep in mind there was more going on at that time. He didn’t come out of knowwhere and have everyone swoop down on him. It was a time bomb waiting to go off.
Is it bad for me to admit that I’ve actually looked up and read these threads already?

Agreed, Coldie. With the exception of Wally’s stuff, AW’s hijack in that thread is the funniest thing I’ve read on these boards in a year. Shut Serlinel up right quick, too.
Freaker’s Finale is indeed an epic. Completely full-of-shit, IMHO, but an epic nonetheless.
Geez, ** Enderw23**, I know exactly how you feel, I was reading that New Game: Neverending thread thread and spent almost two and a half hours reading all those posts! They weren’t even that original, most of them just copying what the rest of the people were saying! Unoriginal bastards. Anyway, I got sucked into that thing and after reading something like 590 posts, I realized I had nothing more to say.
I know how you feel, Enderw. I took a two month hiatus from the board this summer and when I returned, I remembered FreakFeely with particular hatred, and saw that he now longer posted. Did a little research and lo and behold, more drama than I ever imagined! I could never hope to recapture the twisting plot and the downfall of the hero in my own writing.
My favorite part was when Coldy told him he hoped his relationship with his European woman wasn’t so rife with conflict, and Freak got all pissed off.
I spent 2 hours reading the “banning of Melin” thread last night. Good juicy stuff! I just wish someone would link me to the infamous Melingate. I cannot find it.

Sure, it’s only 5 pages…on the SD board. The damn thing is 218 pages pasted into Word. I’ve been reading for hours and am on page 78. I figure I’ll be ready to post to it sometime tomorrow afternoon (don’t tell the client, I’m downloading stuff rather than hanging out online).
