Khlav Kalash?

I’m watching “The City of New York versus Homer Simpson” on the TV (I don’t think I’ve seen it on the air since 9/11), and I was reintroduced to the “Khlav Kalash” vendor from that episode, and his mysterious meat on a stick.

Is that an actual thing? I saw one single solitary recipe on the internet, that claimed it was of mysterious “Eastern European” origins, whatever that means. You’d think they’d narrow it down to a country, at least. It sounds Middle Eastern by name, though. A search of these forums reveals someone else who’s claimed to have made it.

Has anyone had it? Is it any good? Does it go well with Mountain Dew or Crab Juice?

You can see a recipe at Urban Dictionary, but I suspect it’s something somebody made up after seeing the episode. The character and his food are probably parodies of the ethnic food vendors you see around New York City. Many of those guys sell kebabs, which are food on a stick just like Khlav Kalash.

Eww! … you’d drink Mountain Dew?

Gimme another Crab Juice.
