Mrs. Mancer is out of town this weekend, and while the cat’s away, the mice will eat cereal that is just awful for them. I speak of Lucky Charms, a cereal I am usually forbidden to purchase even though I crave it so. So while she’s gone, I’ll tear through a box of it and get my fix.
What kids’ cereals are you hopelessly addicted to?
Hands down my favorite, Reese’s Puffs cereal does the trick for me. It reminds me a LOT of the E.T. cereal that I used to love when I was a kid, but for obvious reasons ceased to exist when the fad was over.
I used to eat the monster cereals: Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry ALL the time. Now I can hardly stand to think about them. I might be able to stomach some Count Chocula, but last time I ate either of the other 2, I was pregnant and craving. ick
Lucky Charms (or any other marshmallow laden cereals, aside from above mentioned monster cereals) are also pretty good.
If I think about just cold cereals, then it’s Berry Berry Kix. Good to eat, right out of the box, good with milk, sweet without being soo sweet my teeth ache.
For hot cereals… CoCo Wheats! I was quite happy to find it again (after I left the Midwest) in the South, of all areas.
For some odd reason, Boo Berry is one that I have a hard time finding… but it seems to go in cycles based on what the current fads are, and not so much based on geographic area. Last time I had a box of that was in the… er… mid 80’s? And I think I got it mostly because of the intense color the milk would become after having Boo Berry sit in it for a short bit.

Count Chocula, Cocoa Pebbles, Lucky Charms, Honeycomb… Heck, probably about 98.3% of them. Except the fruit ones (Froot Loops, Trix, etc.) which I can’t stand.
Forbidden to purchase? You are a mouse. That’ll be the day Mrs. Bietz tells me what I can buy or eat! Or are you a kid and Mrs. Mancer is your mom? In that case, obey your mom!
Mrs. Mother Nature, on the other hand, yields more power over me, as she made me very alergic to milk. So my cereal eating is limited to eating it by the hand fulls. I can’t stand marshmellows, even as a kid I hated them. So cereal like Kabooms, and frankenberry are out. I love the Cap’n though. Crunch Berries, Peanut Butter Crunch. Anything Crunch makes is good by me!
pkbites, I’m sure everyone in the world has told or asked you this before, but have you tried rice milk or Lactaid? It’s not that great straight from the glass but on top of cereal it’s pretty good.
Anyway, another Lucky Charms kid here. So sickeningly sweet, it’s a wonder people can claim it as a nutritious meal. Always liked to pick out the marshmallows myself, pile them on the table then eat the cereal with milk. After that I’d stuff the little freeze-dried marshmallows in my mouth all at once, and shudder from the sudden influx of sugar. So good it’s bad.
