kids films/TV (secretly like them?)

KP is pretty good… Ron & Rufus are good sidekicks/comedy relief, and the villians are excellent! My favorite is the guy (whose name escapes me at the moment) with the monkey ninjas.

Hubby and I try to not miss an episode of Strange Days at Blake Holsey High. The story arc is smart and interesting. Also, I get to fill in the holes of my science knowledge. By the way, I’m 38 and he’s 32 (no children for an excuse).

My favorite is “The Fairly Odd Parents” for the 2-levels of humor that entertains both kids and adults. “I’m going to Uranus! It’s a planet. Who knew?”

I can only speak of toddler shows, of which these are my favorites:

Seasame Street
Jo Jo’s Circus
Stanley
Bear in the Big Blue House
Between the Lions

Don’t tell my kids, but these I hate:

**Thomas & Friends *
Zoom
The Wiggles **
Barney & Friends *****

As for the rest, I don’t have a stong feeling one way or the other.
** If I have to watch Thomas & The Magic Railroad (that horrible movie with Alec Baldwin) one more time, I will scream very loud.

** If I have to hear one more Wiggles song, I will break something.

*** If I see that damn dinosaur one more time, I will…No, sorry, I can’t say it.*

Not to be a nitpicker (ok, to be a nitpicker) it was based on a Saturday morning show that starred the two guys from F Troop.

Yes, I’m old enough to have watched it when it first came out.

My 32-yo fiance is addicted to Yu-Gi-Oh!

When he knows it will be on, I must change the channel for him so he can watch it over his shoulder while raiding on WoW. I then have to endure him randomly shouting “YUGIOOOOHHHHH!!!” over the course of the next three hours or so, and occasionally muttering it when he talks in his sleep. I kid you not.

I’m willing to admit that I’m a big fan of Batman: The Animated Series. Still trying to make extra funds to purchase what’s available on DVD!

Ok, so it was a show, not a movie. If you want to hear the old theme song, go to:

For those who want to know what the live action was like, I will quote from the site:
“Basically, an episode would go like this;
Spencer (Storch) and Kong (Tucker) are sitting around their office, hamming it up with their gorilla, Tracy (I’m not making this up). Eventually, Kong gets sick of them and sends the other two for their assignment. Spencer and Tracy (get it?) ride in the Ghost Buggy to this hardware store. Tracy goes into the store and comes back with something wacky, like a tuba or a door. It plays a message from the mysterious Zero about their newest assignment and then blows up. Tracy never, ever, thinks to throw the damn thing away, so he always blows up. Stupid monkey.”

As for the cartoon show, I don’t have the energy to recreat it with my memory right now. Sufficant to say, I really liked the April O’Neil knock off that was Jessica.

“Code of Hero” is slightly overrated, if you ask me, but for the most part I agree.

Still the pinnacle of American animated action/drama.

Not to mention damn hot.

My favorite is Pingu, which is also a favorite of my son’s, so I have an excuse.

My truly guilty pleasure, though, is ***Saddle Club * ** (did I say that out loud?). It’s on when I’m making dinner and I’m totally into all the intrigue and adventure that surrounds those zany girls.

I love the Muppets, and everything they do. They’re not as great as they used to be (I really miss Jim Henson), but they still crack me up. So, Sesame Street, the Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight, the Muppet Movies…love 'em all.

Muppet Babies, with the public domain B&W movie representing their imagination. There are now stuffed animals for sale. Each comes with an episode of the show.

I don’t have TV now, but the kids and I used to really get a bang out of The Amanda Show on Nickolodeon. We still play “Hillbilly Moment”.

I watch Yu-Gi-Oh when I find it on, it’s really just logic puzzles disguised as a kid’s show. I also like the Dragon Ball Z series, they’re best when I can watch them on the foreign language station and not be distracted by poor translations.

I also play kid’s games on my Playstation 2. I like “Dog’s Life” and “Cookie and Cream.” The games are fun and don’t require the twitchy eye and hand coordination of a brain surgeon on meth.

I watch Kenny The Shark every Saturday.

[sup] I’m 52 [/sup]

I should be ashamed, but I’m not.

Much.

Heh, I discovered “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” right before they stopped production. I had a tape with several episodes on if for a couple years, but it’s long gone. I heard it’s going to be released on DVD, and I’m looking forward to that, especially since there’s a bunch I never saw. I’m sure I could’ve caught them on re-runs, but I was 30, working, going for my degree and juggling a GF & her kid (the kid was tough, he was quite heavy, and just not well-balanced, in at least 2 ways.) I never got around to figuring out when it was on TV.

“Dinosaurs” was funny to me and my friends. I had a digital copy of their commercial recorded on my Amiga computer (I’m the baby, gotta love me. . . something something, hit my daddy with a frying pan. . .)

“The adventures of Beans Baxter” - a Savage Steve Holland series. Savage Steve was a god for a few years, what with his John Cusack movies. Can’t even remember most of the show.

Ah, good times, good times. . .
(I long for the release that death will bring)

Batman: The Animated Series perhaps my favorite Batman Incarnation. Including “Mask of the Phantasm”.

Another Muppet fan here. I personall think that “The Muppet’s Christmas Carol” is perhaps the Best version of the Dickens tale ever put to film(Mr. Magoo’s would be a close second).

Hell, I have all the episodes of Rockie and Bullwinkie on tape.

Sesame Street

Totally Spies.
Yeah, I know it’s faux anime, but, as in Kim Possible, they’re hot.
Especially Clover.

Blasphemer!

j/k

I know where you’re coming from, but CoH was definitely one of the better eps in a very good season…and while some find it cheap, I still think it takes guts to kill off a major character in a cartoon, especially in such a spectacular manner.
I also tended to like BW due to the sheer volume of over the top, cool quotes, almost like a kids’ version of Babylon 5. For that matter, they had the same series long story arc, where things that seemed random in season 1 made sense by season 4. Plus, no shortage of tribute to the original series, as well as G2 (Ravage, Nemesis, the Vok, the Ark)…lots for an old fan to like.

On the first tier of enjoyment, I must place:
SpongeBob Squarepants and The Fairly Oddparents
They remind me of the old-fashioned Looney Tunes-style cartoons in terms of humor, dialogue, and slapstick violence; and much like my favorite adult cartoon, The Simpsons, they are full of memorable, quotable dialogue. (In addition, I humbly believe that the feature-length Oddparents cartoon Channel Chasers is the best thing ever aired on television.)

Other shows I enjoy watching (listed in order of relative enjoyment:)

Animated comedy:
Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends
Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi
(occasionaly)

Live-action comedy:
Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide

PBS Educational:
Arthur
Cyberchase
Zoom
(fluent Ubbi Dubbi speaker)

And a remembrance to those shows gone, but not forgotten- either no longer in production but still airing or lost from the airwaves (in no particular order):
Ren and Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaaah! Real Monsters, Invader Zim, Kablam!, the early years of All That, Dexter’s Laboratory, the Powerpuff Girls, Kim Possible, and any kids’ show that brought a smile to my face. The list goes on and on…
