I loved this hilarious movie and can’t wait to watch it again.
And then. . .
KBV2 starts friday at the Senator theater in Baltimore. A giant, beautiful theater with a single HUGE screen, great sound and always great projection.
For the first one (at a different theater), a buddy and me partook of a fatty in the parking lot, and each snuck in a Bud pounder for a sublime theater-going experience.
I suspect I’m going to love v.2, but I’m going to hold off on buying the DVD until the special edition comes out. All Tarantino’s other films have one, I can’t for the life of me figure out why a 2-parter wouldn’t.
I kept telling myself I was going to hold off buying it until they both came out in one special edition, but when confronted with the sign “RESERVE YOUR COPY TODAY!!!” at Suncoast, I folded. Now that I know that Quentin’s guest appearance on American Idol is delayed until tomorrow so our stupid president can talk, I’m ever so glad I’ll be watching Kill Bill Volume 1 and drinking cup after cup of hot sake.
A friend of mine works at a video store and gets to check out movies the weekend before they’re released. I’m convinced it’s the major reason he works there.
Anyway, we watched Vol 1 last night on another friend’s big screen tv (probably a good 48" or so) + obnoxiously overpowered sound system. It was glorious. I’m definitely looking forward to Vol 2.
Does anybody know if any of the scenes about The Bride training with the kung fu instructor are going to be in Vol 2?
I have a local video store very near my house that I love.
I still find DVDs expensive (even though I make decent money). I don’t re-watch a lot of movies but I know this one I will.
(side note: I just found out I’m getting some expense account reimbursement for about exactly the price of Kill Bill Vol. 1. If they’re sold out when I get there, SHIT’S GETTIN’ PUNCHED.)
So much for my resolution to wait for the collector’s edition…
That’s cool. I was afraid the kung fu master was from a deleted scene that didn’t make it to the final cut of volume I.
You own over 100,000 DVDs? Really? Wow…
Anyhow, I love me some Kill Bill. To attempt to transliterate some of the fun:
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Da-dah dum dum du-du-du-du-dum dum dum
Ayuh. Buddy and me went there at lunch- he had to have it because he (a) hasn’t seen it, (b) is an Asian film buff, and (c) is hella tired of hearing me rave about the damn thing.
Count me in the waiting-for-the-special-edition camp, tho.
P.S. You have to love how the Best Buy guys try to hard sell you on their specials, like the Resevoir Dogs two-fer. When I say no thanks, I kinda already own Dogs, he suggests I buy it anyway and give it as a gift to somebody. Step back there, Jethro.
I was going to wait and get the SE of both movies, but the peer pressure is weakening my resolve, so I’m going to trade in three redundant DVDs at FYE and get it at a discount.
Reservoir Dogs is an excellent movie. Except for some flashback sequences, it takes place mostly in one setting, a warehouse. So in that regard, it is structured a lot like a play. But it has some sharp dialogue and very quotable lines, and great performances by Steve Buscemi, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and the late Lawrence Tierney. If you like Kill Bill and Tarantino in general, you ought to pick this one up.
Reservoir Dogs is a cool movie. I would have bought it anyways, but since KB is going for 19.99 by itself at Best Buy, and the two together are only 20.99, it’s a no-brainer, even if you tear RD out half-way throught your first viewing and use it for your next disco night party as a reflector.
Then again, as someone who can’t get to the movies as much as he’d like, I’ll buy anything that I otherwise would’ve gone to see in the theaters for the right price. I also like building my DVD collection.
I’m not sure how to do the quote within the quote, but…
Dude! I had said that I was going to wait until Vol. 2 was released because I was sure they would do something special for the set, but if my Best Buy has them both for that price, screw waiting! I don’t have RD yet and $21 for that is worth it, especially when they are tossing in Vol 1.
I’m almost tempted to go out RFN and get it! I suppose I can wait until tomorrow…
