Kimber vs. Springfield 1911s

I didn’t want to hijack my own thread over in MPSIMS, so I’m opening a new one.

I’m trying to decide between these three (2 kimber and 1 Springfield):

Any ideas?

I’d take any of them.

My favorite of my .45s is my AMT Hardballer Longslide. Not a carry piece by any means, but a sweet shooter.

I shoot a Kimber, and love it. The Kimbers are made to very precise specifications, and for the most part perform spectacularly. They have a reputation for feeding problems, usually as a result of these tight tolerances. They are supposed to be “broken in”. I have had no problems with mine, and I have put a lot of rounds through it. Disassembly of the Kimber can be a bit different than other 1911’s as well.

I’d just read that Springfields were more accurate/reliable. I do realize that every reviewer is going to have their own preferences.

Just looking for a good deal for my 400-600 bucks.

On further research, looks like the Kimbers are more reliable. They also come with the commander-style hammer, which I like.

Seem to recall you were considering CC on the piece you’re buying. Maybe look at a Springfield 1911 commander model - small enough to be concealable, but still a real .45
I like both my Springfield guns, I have a full sized one and a compact (commander) one. Both have never malfed, which I can’t say for most other guns I’ve owned or used.

With a little more research into the willingness of Monterey county police to issue CCW permits, I doubt I will be carrying.
