I do not have time to explain the whole thing to those that do not know the background, but for those that do, here is a brief update.
Kimberly is growing and doing well. She is feeding from a bottle about 1.5 oz every 4 hours. If she continues to progress as she has she is going to get to come home on Father’ Day.
That would be absolutely the best Father’s Day gift ever for me.
Thanks again for all the prayers, well wishes and thoughts and words.
Well I don’t know the situation except from what I can gather from your OP, but I wish you the absolute best, and I hope your fathers day is as good as you hope it could be.
YIPPEEEE!! I’m so very happy to hear that, Jeffery! That is such AWESOME news! I have been wondering how all of you are doing. Thank you so much for giving us the update.
Here’s praying that she’ll be home for Father’s day!
That’s wonderful news!!! I know what it’s like to have to go home while your baby stays at the hospital. It is no fun. I wish you all the luck in the world
Thanks for those that do not know the story, a brief history.
My second daughter was born 14 weeks premature on March 26th and she weighed 1.5 lbs. She has been in the hospital for the last 11.5 weeks. She is now about 3.5 lbs and if she gets to come home on Father’s day will be 13 weeks old and about 4 lbs.
She will be on monitors and probably oxygen for a few more weeks but having her home will be great. The hospital staff that we interact with has been wonderful and that has made it better, but I would just rather be at home with both my daughters and my wife.
Due to work and the time that you cannot go to the NICU, I have not seen her in three days and may not get to see her today. That is depressing, so I will be very happy to have her home.
iampunha: I do not mean to pick upon you. I in no way hold your ‘newbie’ status against you; in fact, you seem to me to be quite a good poster. However, you have no idea how amusing a mis-statement this was. Bless your heart.
Jeff- congrats, and the best of futures to you and yours. May the worst be behind you.

Yes, I realize what I said wasn’t exactly true. Prayer isn’t technically that, but for those who are offended by the thought of prayer, I was offering an example of what it does. And prayer can be thinking good thoughts in someone’s direction. It can be a lot of things, which is what makes it so cool (and, more importantly so easy). I would go on about this but I think this is swiftly turning into a “witness”-ish thing, which is the last thing I want to do on this board, especially since there is one specifically made for it.
iampunha, I think what John was saying was not anything about your explanation on what prayer is like, but more on who you were saying it to, hence the newbie comment.
I have not been able to post for a couple of months (I started a new job around the time Kimberly was born). But most of the people who “know” me on this board know that I am a very vocal Christian and a firm believer in prayer.
I initally asked for the prayers of those that believe in prayer and I thanked them and those who offered well wishes for their thoughts as well.
I know that not everone believes in prayer but offering the kind words and good thoughts, helps me feel better at least.
So, welcome aboard. Keep the tone fun, civil, and intelligent and you will always be welcome.
Also, thanks for adding Kimberly to your prayer group list.
Jeff, yay! I am so happy for you. Nothing is more important on earth than our children.
I hope she comes home on Fathers Day.
Please post a picture whenever you are able.
Yep, I know the power of prayer myself!
Love and the best, Rose

Ah yes, I see now. I try hard not to make assumptions about people (if you had been atheist, I wanted to make sure you got the idea that I was offering good intentions rather than trying to convert you).

I’ve been registered all of a week, if that, and before then I was a lurker for a few weeks (I think). So I didn’t know who you were or the story behind Kimberly.
<I initally asked for the prayers of those that believe in prayer and I thanked them and those who offered well wishes
for their thoughts as well.>
I’m glad to know my offer was well-received. Sad as it is to say, there are those who see an offer for prayer as an insult . . . “What, you think you need to pray for me? You think you’re that well off?” etc.
<So, welcome aboard. Keep the tone fun, civil, and intelligent and you will always be welcome.>
Fun and civil I can do. Intelligent . . . well, I ain’t making any promises
<Also, thanks for adding Kimberly to your prayer group list. >
No reason to thank me. Just thank God for life . . .
Jeffrey, this is just wonderful news! I will be adding you and Kimberly to my prayers also (it’s ok if a Jewish girl prays for you, isn’t it? ;)). And what the heck, I’ll cross my fingers too, if that’ll help. Anything to get that precious baby home for Father’s Day!
Personally Shayna, I do not believe Christians and Jews are that different. I know that in a thread on GD, it is stated that we do not follow the same God, but I believe we do. I know I have great respect for CK, CMKeller, and many of the others who share their Jewish beliefs with us. I have learned a lot from them.
So I guess what I am saying is, I would love to have a Jewish girl praying for my girl.
Thanks again to everyone. I am hoping to get a couple of minutes and post some pictures to our webspace (I do not have a site just some space) soon. The development she has gone through is amazing. We have seen some things that usually one does not get to see.
For instance, did you know that a baby that is around 26 weeks gestation does not have defined butt-cheeks? They have the necessary hole, but there are no cheeks. Just a fun pre-mature baby fact. She of course has them now.
Cool! I learned something I didn’t know before! Thanks, Jeffery, for the image of your little one growing and changing in ways most of us probably never think of. I look forward to her pics. God bless you and yours, now and always. You and your whole family are of course, still in my prayers. And, I agree with you that Jews and Christians worship the same God.
Congrat’s and best wishes. Hopefully the little one will be home on Father’s Day. Nuttin in the world like it, when your baby comes home. My prayers go out to ya.
Jeffery, your family has been in my thoughts since your first post about Kimberly. I am thrilled to hear she is doing so well! She is only going to get bigger and stronger! (And more intelligent just like her dad!)
I really hope she gets to join you at home for Father’s Day but if not, I know she’ll be home soon. She has proven that she is a fighter!
My family will continue to send good thoughts her way and be sure to keep us updated on her progress! And post pictures if you get the chance!
Congratulations and best wishes. I know what it is to have to leave a baby in the hospital, and my heart goes out to you and your wife. I also know the joy of finally getting to bring that baby home, and I can’t wait until it happens for your family.
Happy Early Father’s Day!
