KimChee question/salt to water ratio.

I got some cabbage on the cheap and wanted to make some kim chee – what is a good water to salt ratio (cups per gallon, grams per liter)?

I’ve used this recipe with what I thought were good results.

It’s from Joy of Pickling and uses 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon pickling salt to 6 cups water. I use kosher salt which is less dense than typical table salt.
