Kirsten Dunst isn’t the prettiest face out there but here personality makes her hypnotically attractive. She has a cute little body to boot. She strikes me as the quintessential upbeat “cool chick.” She really knows how to deliver a comedic line. I was astounded at how good “Bring it On” was having just stumbled upon it while flicking channels. She was also great in “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” Does anyone remember a film she was in where she played a wise-ass catholic school girl involved in various monkeyshines with her friends? I don’t see it in her filmographies but she was fantastic in that.
She was also a very credible performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Ok, the picture I was referring to had an alternate name. It’s called “All I Wanna Do,” and it’s got more of Kirsten’s sharp young wit.
A sister named Maggie Gyllenhaal who’s hot enough to make the paint curl off the walls just by walking into a room.
Holy shit! I’m with Lissener on this.
But, really, this girl seems to have been born to act. She can do both the brainless blockbuster roles and the meaty roles in touchy/feely movies. Add to that the fact that she’s easily one of the prettiest faces out there… well, I just like watching her.
I wouldn’t put her in a Myrle Streep catagory, though. MS seems to only take those heavy roles, and sometimes she doesn’t do them right (to my tastes).
KD is more (to me) like Brad Pitt. Easy to watch, and makes any casting choice a good one. She makes her roles work, whether soft or hard.
Hmmm… I would like see her and Brad Pitt together on screen…
:smack:
That was Pakled! Yes, I know about this. I mean now.
I give Kirsten Dunst two thumbs up. She’s quite a good actress, but can also do comedy. I may be the only person who actually liked “Bring it on.” Haha. Then she showed a little more range in “Eternal Sunshine,” and even a little more range in the craptacular “Mona Lisa Smile.” I also liked when she played the crazy assed daughter in “Crazy Beautiful.”
I don’t need an actress to be serious all the time. Fluffy movies are good as well.
I think she’s lovely. She was wonderful in The Cat’s Meow and Eternal Sunshine. I thought she was good in both Spiderman movies, even though the role didn’t give her a lot to work with.
She doesn’t have the best body in Hollywood, but her eyes! She easily has the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. One of the great things about the Spider-man movies was that they realized this, and gave her plenty of close-ups. I could watch just for that (though of course, all the other niftiness in those movies helps, too).
I find it difficult to objectively judge her current acting abilities because of her attractiveness, but I will say that in Interview with a Vampire, where she was just “cute” and not “cute” (if that makes any sense), she put in a very strong performance.
I loved her in both Crazy/Beautiful and The Virgin Suicides. I think her comedic timing, like in Bring It On! is much better than Reese’s. (Don’t throw anything at me!!!)
Plus, I like her style. She reminds of a young, less-flaky dressing Cameron Diaz. I don’t know what path she’ll take career-wise, but I’m sure it’ll be sturdy with some blockbuster supporting roles (a la’ the Spiderman movies with a liberal dose of character parts like she’s done before and indies in the mix.
Have seen Sunshine yet, but I’m really looking forward to it.
As for Jake… girl, what were you thinking??? That boy is hot and got that whole mysterious, deeply troubled rebel thing going on. HUGE improvement over bland Toby. (I just don’t get his appeal. At all.)
::: fans self and groans :::
I never said she was single-handedly responsible for every one of those film’s b.o. take (though I certainly think the first S-M wouldn’t have done as well without her), but the fact that she’s starred in several $100M films, starred beside some of the biggest names in Hollywood (add Jim Carrey, Julia Roberts, Robin Williams, George Clooney, and a pre-slump Winona Ryder to Ellis Dee’s list) as well as a number of critical hits in a variety of genres (with less crap than Reese or Drew or Kate Hudson, etc.), and I’d say that she’s hit it BIG. Maybe not SUPER-STRATOSPHERIC BIG, but Big none-the-less.
The IMDB has it listed under the title Strike! I saw it on video under the title All I Wanna Do. Despite some dinnertime hymns in Latin, it didn’t seem to be a Catholic school (there were no priests or nuns visible on the campus) but a WASP-y prep school for upper-crust girls. It was set in the early ‘60s and I liked the timely theme of political activism – the students rebel when the administration decides to merge with a boys’ school. It’s like, “POWER to the . . . rich, overprivileged schoolgirls!”
Kirsten Dunst is the most beautiful, sexiest young woman now living. I am informed she also happens to be an actress, but for obvious reasons it would take a straight woman or a gay man to give make any clear judgment, unaffected by hormones, of her ability. On second thought, no, I don’t think a gay man could do it.
She is NOT that good.
Or attractive.
I did an IMDB search on “Get a Life” and found nothing but a couple of TV sitcoms, and Dunst wasn’t in the cast. Did she do a cameo? I’ve never, ever heard her sing. (I do know she can dance – she did an impressive tap-dance number in Drop Dead Gorgeous.)
I thought her crowning achievement was Jumanji?
I know it was mine.
Sorry, not Get a Life. Get Over It. She sings a song in a musical version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream within the movie.
I’ll have to rent it!
According to you; Meg Ryan & Julia Roberts > Kirsten Dunst > Melanie Griffith
Wha…? Melanie Griffith? Is there another Melanie Griffith because I’m really confused, when was Melanie Griffith ever in anything that could have made her look Oscar worthy? Melanie Griffith? :dubious:
A clue might be that they appear to be listed in ascending order of breast size.
You have that backwards. According to him, it’s: Meg Ryan & Julia Roberts < Kirsten Dunst < Melanie Griffith
