Three times, I’ve fallen through walls. Thankfully, each of the times I was able to fall back of out the wall, thus preventing me from losing everything back to the last save. But that doesn’t mean I’m happy and accepting of it.
After playing the game all day, my X-Box started to make serious chatter. Like the disc was skipping or something. But no actual detriment to game play.
During serious, multi-person combats, the game would occasionally slooooow down while it thought, then jump back to normal speeds.
I had a corruupted save game my first time through (about 2 hours into it). After starting the game again (I could load the game, but soon as the next scene was supposed to load, nada), I started saving in 6 slots. Not all at once, just one time I would save in 1, then 2, et cetera. Of course, no such problems after I started that, and I am 3/4 through with my second (evil) campaign.
I did have a freeze, but I suspect it was HW related. The Xbox is a $150 dollar PC, and some problems are to be expected. (See how low my expectations are?)
Never had the slow-down problem. When I was searching forums for a solution to my corrupt save, I saw quite a few people were having the problem, but there was talk of DVD ‘lots’, and that the later lots shipped with a less-buggy version of the game. Dunno about that, but people are babbling about it.
I’ve played it for, uh, 14+ hours at a shot with nary a problem. Dunno if I am the exception or the rule, but maybe having a fresh Xbox* helps?
*On a unrelated note, the rear cooling fan on my 5 week old Xbox is starting to go. Nothing like getting into the game, enjoying the bad-ass music in the cantina at Onderon, when all of the sudden it sounds like a cat is being violated behind my component rack.
As for those contemplating whether to buy or not, fuck ya you should buy it. If Lucasarts is non-stupid, they will have Obsidian/Bioware spank out many more games for them, as they are among the few Star Wars games that don’t fucking suck. So buy it. Is good.
I totally forgot about this. The Boy says he’s played it for 3 hours without incident. Could be your copy of the game - hopefully, because that seems the easiest to fix.
