I followed the above link, but couldn’t figure out why Peace was actually banned… did I miss somehting?

Ummmmm, no, I most certainly did NOT say that, because it isn’t true. peace was banned because he got warned several times, in the same thread even, and simply disregarded the warnings, and in some cases actually defied the warnings. Since peace would not take heed of warnings, I banned him because of his pattern of behavior. I looked at a sample of his posts (I wasn’t about to look at every single post) and decided that he was not likely to heed warnings in the future, either. **

Seriously… I’ve never actually paid much attention to peace - seemed to be lacking the kind of wit and logic that grabs my attention. I like to keep tabs on the flame wars though and I was kinda curious. Certainly not the kind of burning curiousity required to sift through 1000 posts. Thank you for explaining it to me.

I dunno, a lot of it makes good reading. There was (I swear I am being serious) inspiration in a bunch of his postings. An odd off-kilter inspiration, to be sure, but he was inspired nonetheless.

It’s kind of like Ed Wood. You can’t make a truly wonderful movie on purpose; you just have to make your movie. You can’t make a really abysmal movie purposely either. A bad movie sure, but if you think about it, there’s gotta be converse Chinatowns and Citizen Kanes equal in magnitude but opposite in the goodness/badness scale. Both great and awful require some type of genius.

Peace was certainly a genius. I couldn’t write posts like that on purpose.

Heh. You’re welcome. I should add that I feel sorry for manhattan and Chronos for having had a good deal of peace’s more fascinating material posted in their forum.

Can we call this a victory in the war against ignorance? Do you think peace learned anything? At the very least, he’s not around to spread his own wacky brand of misinformation. Good enough for me.
