Kris Cutler, Larry Fine's granddaughter passed

Granddaughter of Larry Fine, Kris Cutler passed away peacefully with family by her side. Krissy is survived by her husband, Ben Cutler.

While I am familiar with Larry Fine [at one time I really liked the Three Stooges], what is Kris Cutler known for–movies, TV, etc.

She’s got one credit on IMDB for providing family photographs to a Three Stooges documentary back in 1998. It’s really bizarre to have a thread about the death of an individual who was essentially outside of the public eye.

Reading through a few posts about her passing on social media, like this Instagram post from what appears to be the official Three Stooges Instagram page, it sounds like she might have made brief appearances in some Stooges shorts when she was a child (but IMDB doesn’t apparently have those credits for her). It notes that she didn’t make a career in show business, but was apparently a frequent guest at fan conventions and film festivals.

So, it may be that she was known (maybe even well-known) to Three Stooges fans, but not a public figure otherwise, other than her connection to her grandfather. Maybe the OP can shed a little more light on that, as he felt that posting about her death was worthwhile.

Looks like her death is being posted everywhere, with “heavy hearts,” etc. And she was a moving force behind conventions.

I personally dislike the 3 Stooges quite actively, but I won’t begrudge them anyone with different feelings. And I’m not a fan convention person-- never been to one for things I love, even (I’ve gone to things like the National Federation of the Blind convention as a Deaf-Blind interpreter, but not things like Comicon). However, I can understand how they would be fun and exciting to fans.

If people thought posting about the death of Gary Gygax, which they did, IIRC, or maybe that was Fathom, but you get the idea, was important, then I can see why Kris Cutler is a notable loss to 3 Stooges’ fans.

Thank you.

I had an article in a recent issue of the Three Stooges Journal. Looking through back issues, I see that “who passed away recently” is an invariable part of the issue. It used to be co-stars and bit players, but lately, as we move farther away from the era when the shorts were made, it’s about relatives and descendants. Ms. Cutler’s death will definitely be featured in the next issue.

I’m surprised she couldn’t have been helped more by Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, or Dr. Howard.

Loved that short, a fave. Also the “oh Maja? Aha?”
