Krispy Kremes — no big deal!

I must say Krispy Kremes fresh and hot are the best. Otherwise, about the same as Dunkin Donuts. But, since I also go to the same KK as RTFirefly on Rt. 1 in Arlington, and it is a distributor to stores in the area, you can usually get the fresh n’ hot ones. But I think the KK in New York City are even better since they have a better variety instead of just the usual ones like here.

Now that Baltimore has kosher DD and KK, I can say that I like KK’s better. They are lighter and seem to have more flavor. And, the KK workers are definitely nicer than those in DD.

Mmmmmm… Michaels…

I have to differ with you on the locale of Sopapillas. Just about every Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to has 'em. They’re virtually everywhere in Colorado/New Mexico/Arizona, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen 'em in Texas and California.

They’re also up north, in Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan, only up there they’re called “Indian Fry Bread” and show up at fairs and carnivals and such places that allow food vendors to set up a stand and sell their wares.

The cajun beignet is virtually the same thing as well. Only I’ve never seen beignets sold with honey, only powdered sugar. And beignets tend to be smaller than sopapillas or indian fry bread.

It’s all just deep fried bread. Very, very yummy deep fried bread, but deep fried bread just the same.
