Man last nights episode was FANTASTIC! We actually learned where Kyle came from and why he does not have a bellybutton. The last scene was really touching too!
Anyone else watch it?
oh if you missed a special encore will air on ABC on Friday at 8pm!
I watched it - and have seen a couple of prior eps, at the rec of my 15 year old who thinks the main character is “so cute!”
Thought the back story about Einstein’s brain was - uh - pretty stupid. And couldn’t figure why he would test his ability to move water within a breakable glass - other than to set up the predictable shattering. What is the official number of expressions the dad is allowed - 2 or did he squeak in a 3d? Was glad they showed an ad for Legally Blonde to remind me where I had seen him before. For me, the younger brother is just about the only saving grace. Liked it when he was shooing his folks out the door, and they asked if he was counting the minutes, and he responded that he was “down to seconds.”
How did vat-girl get out of the lab, instead of getting blowed up real good?
Are we the only folks who pronounce the show’s title Kylexy?
I really do like this show. The first season was very good. But I must say the opener was disappointing last night. I think it needs the Tagers to succeed. Then again, maybe I’m in a funk. I was disappointed with Big Love’s opener too.
“I was in the womb for 14 months…the surrogate mother died.” I should say so.
I’m OK with the explanation although the Einstein thing was a bit on the overkill side. The “mind taxes the body” has been done before (not recalling specific instances off the top of my head) and it’s a reasonable way of limiting the use of extraordinary abilities (and presumably saving on SFX budget).
I assume that Foss set Tank Girl loose before clocking Kyle. Which, by the way, was profoundly irritating. Foss can infiltrate Zyzygy or however it’s spelled because he worked there for years and knows every detail of the security. Yet Kyle, who has no such backlog of experience to draw upon, can waltz right in without being detected (as opposed to last season when both of them were caught on camera at the facility’s fence). Why, if he released her, Foss would leave Tank Girl alone and naked in the woods is a puzzlement. In the alternative my assumption would be that the explosion damaged the tank but she was shielded by it from the brunt of the blast.
The psychokinesis sucks. I hope they have a story very soon where he burns out the PK center in his brain and never gets it back.
I’m eagerly anticipating hearing the cover story Kyle’s planning on telling the Tragers to explain why he’s back living with them. I can’t think of anything that sounds the slightest bit plausible.
That must be it. Neither the human eye nor security camera could believe anyone could come up with an outfit that bad even if they did live in a tank for 15 years, and so refused to register its existence.
His exit story was rather implausible too, but they didn’t seem to care all that much. “Huh. I guess he has no belly button due to reconstructive surgery. All the other implausible things about him don’t matter anymore.”
The whole town doesn’t seem to care actually. “Huh. That guy’s the best basketball player the World has ever known. Oh well, he’s off the team, let’s forget about him.” or “Huh. My neighbor’s new foster kid just jumped off the roof of his house and suffered no ill effects. I’ll never talk about this.”
I can’t wait for the police to find the new girl. “Huh. Didn’t we find another belly- buttonless-naked-covered-in-goo person a while back?” “Yeah - hey Bob - wasn’t it the same kid from the pool party that disarmed you with super human strength and super quick reflexes? What ever happened to that kid anyway?”
The plots are about as airtight as an episode of Charmed and the F/X are just as cheesy. Makes sense - Curtis Kheel produced them both.
And I have a hard time not associating his narration with Jack Handy, which spoil the mood considerably.
But I watched the damn marathon and now I’m stuck with it. Hey, kinda like Charmed.
Whooeee! Your daughter isn’t the only one. I’d do him.
I watched the first season, but then kinda forgot about it. I randomly stumbled upon it last night about a third of the way through. What’s this about Einstein’s brain?
Kyle’s “dad” Adam Baelin said that the genesis of That Which Would Become Kyle came from Albert Einstein. Supposedly Einstein was in the womb for a few extra weeks which gave his brain more time to develop. Einstein conducted primate experiments with artificially prolonged gestation but abandoned it. A mysterious group took it up, using human subjects. The product of their labors (heh) was Baelin who was in the womb for 14 months and whose surrogate mother died in childbirth. Baelin began experimenting using artificial wombs and synthetic amniotic fluid (no umbilical cord so no navel) and after many failures the result was Kyle, who’d been gestating up until about the day that he was found in the woods. They didn’t specify last night but presumably he ended up in the woods when that professor guy he remembered last season smuggled him out of the facility.
We were introduced to Ms. XX she was let out by the explosion Tom Foss set. I thought that line about the mother died when she gave birth was kind of funny I mean I would have expected her too as well. I can’t wait to see what happens with Ms. XX on tonights episode
Back at the beginning of the pilot episode, the radio (or TV, can’t remember which) in the background talked about a young girl who appeared naked at the beach. I guess that was an XX plotline they just dropped.
OK, I’m not really getting why it is that Kyle can’t tell the truth to at least the parents about his situation. “It’s unexplainable” is a poor excuse. “I’m a genetic experiment.” “I don’t believe it!” <breaks every glass in the house with his mind> “Oh, OK, I believe it now.” I don’t understand what advantage is gained by not telling them the truth or what peril is avoided. If the Zyzygy or whatever people come to take him back and a Trager is in the way, are they going to stop to ask Nicole or Josh how much they know about artificial wombs before stepping over their dead bodies to get to Kyle?
I think their knowing would expose them to the company, thus putting their lives in danger. The company can’t afford word getting out about their projects, and Kyle’s people know this.
But again, is the company going to neglect to wipe out anyone it considers a threat, and isn’t the company going to consider the Tragers a threat regardless? How can the company possibly know that Kyle is refusing to tell the Tragers his true origin?
Good point, I guess they can’t really know. I guessing that if they find him then we will see what happens then, but until then we can only assume that his not telling will keep them from being in any harm. Last nights episode made me wonder if they would even have to do anything to the family considering what he said about all he needs is in his(Kyle’s) mind, how he would get it beyond me.
It looks like he’s sharing his secret with mom. I’m not sure how good that is story-arc wise. I thought it would be more promising to share it with Declan.
Well you never know he just might share it with Declan or he could share it with both considering what just happened with him and Amanda and how she wanted to know the truth from him about her cheating man.
