I’m sorry to see that somewhere between your LJ and the Dope, I ceased to exist.

Don’t you love me anymore?!

Well I need to make sure I mention porcupine whom I forgot in my original post. A most wonderful, friendly and lovely woman whom I got a chance to chat with.
boitoi: You’ll make it up to me? I am having a Seinfeldian moment after that…but hey, bring it on.
Sue: I am already checking flights for the weekend of Jan. 12.
For some reason I think I am going to have to give up tea in bags for a while now…
Wow. Jack Chick was right. They do recruit and now I know why. That would expain the plethora of kitchen gadgets my brother owns.

Why do I keep doing that! Forgetting people, I mean.
Yes, the lovely Porcupine. Fabulous woman. We got to chit chat a bit on Saturday while she waiting for her friend. She’s a sweetie!
I just wanted to pop in and assure you that the quotes are coming, I just had to wait until I stopped driving around (or up and over to San Fran then to Reno) to even get started transcribing them. Hopefullyt they’ll be out later today, tomorrow at the latest…maybe.

Potato ricer?

Uncle Bill
I don’t get it, do you actually have to work through the weekend?
(did I mention the fishnets and heels?)
I don’t think it made the book, but I need to share one of my favorite quotes (as best I remember it).
Coldfire (imitating a Texas accent with amusing results): We’re gonna get some pickup trucks and shoot stuff!
Okay, it’s not as funny written down. Also, I was still kinda drunk.

It’s like a giant garlic press for making mashed potatoes.
Despite what the quotebook might say, I need to state for the record that I am NOT "All about the asshole eating."
[sub]Actually I am. You never know who reads this stuff though.[/sub]
I didn’t really get to know nearly as many people as I would have liked. That said, everyone I met I liked. And you know, I usually make fun of southerners (not you, beatle, sweetie) and lo and behold I get to California and that’s what I’m known as. Super.
Speaking of beatle, bless his heart, he came (stumbled?) up to me at least twice on Saturday night to tell me that folks were making fun of his accent. I set him straight both times: “It’s them, honey, not you. I can’t understand a word they’re saying.”
Of the dopers I did meet, the ones I really got to hang with and know for a fact that they are as sweet as the day is long are Francesca (I’m her biggest fan. She’s as fabulous and funny as she can be - although kinda little. Did anyone else notice this?), woodstockbirdybird (beyond funny, I needed an extra week to discuss music with him; he’s absolutely my new best friend), Doobieous (precious, precious boy. I want him to come live with me), pricciar (I love him, I’m going to start a fan club), Alex B (not super easy to understand this fellah when he’s sober, downright foreign when he’s had a few. But I sure liked him), Mauvaise (marvelous in all ways. I just want to hang around her), Demo & Psycat (could they be any cooler? What a good-looking couple. I want to be them), Joey Hemlock (I knew him from chat, and I didn’t think it was possible to adore him more. I was quite wrong), Uncle Bill (the only doper I’d met before, he is just the cat’s meow), also Quix and Saphy, Wicky, Thinksnow (kilt. Mmmmm), Silo (what a nice guy!), Nen (Yikes, was he cool!), porcupine, boli, Kyla, Silverfire, Caldazar, Sassy (Lovyer hair, hopeya win, and thanks for breakfast!), Scotti (we shared lipstick, it was magical), Jim B, and Edwardina (we Buffy fans have got to stick together. It’s us against them, you know). Oh my gosh, and of course, Espriiiiiix. He seems okay with me stalking him, and I think that’ll work out nicely for both of us. I’m putting his picture on my fridge. That’s how very serious I am about our relationship (wink wink). Oh, and how I wanted to take Boi Toi home with me in my carry-on luggage. How darling can one boy be?
Holy cow, but let’s talk about the beautiful chicks! Sue Duhnym! Shayna! Heloise! seadiver! It doesn’t seem fair to have beautiful and clever in such high quantities in the same girls.
Nice meeting the guests of honor, Coldfire and Spiny Norman. They were both just as charming and handsome as they could be. Also, I’ve never talked to Jodi, but she’s got a comfy spot in my will for the drinks she bought for us all.
I met and chatted with other people I’m sure, but I don’t know about anyone else - I was tipsy a couple of times this weekend. And my memory ain’t what it used to be, like say, last Wednesday.
Lovya babies, don’t go changin.
Trisha
Oh, woops.
katie
I’m not even going to pretend to try to name all of the names, but I did want to mention a few.
I got to spend some time with Mauvaise, Sapphie (good to see you again), Kyla, sassy, all very nice people.
Edwardina, you are a wonderful person to listen to and have the cutest dimples, all 3 of them. Can I adopt you??
Joey, you’re lot’s of fun. I’ll probably never see you sober, but it seems like you would be a good guy then too.
Esprix, you really should loosen up, you are little too reserved, but a fun guy.
Padeye, thanks for driving us Saturday. The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood is fascinating. And putting up with me coming and going all night and morning.
Sue and Diane have delightfully wicked smiles.
Fran, one of the little people, I’m glad to have gotten a chance meet you.
weirddave, you are weird, but ok.
Silver, a little Ginseng could help that lack of energy problem of yours.
Demo & psycat, y’all are very cool people.
And it’s always good to spend time with my friend beatle.
I’ve already mentioned Shayna, Scotti, Coldy, and Spiney. And along with the rest of y’all, you made this a very memorable weekend and glad to have been with each and every one of you.
Jim
Wow. Sleep. I finally got some. I tell ya, having a combined total of about twelve hours of sleep for the past week and a weekend of drunken debauchery made it extremely difficult to get off a plane and head directly to work without passing go or taking a shower. Now that I managed to visit coma-land and make myself extremely late for work, I’ll slack off a bit and address one of the best experiences in my life.
First and foremost, I’d like to address this alleged teabagging incident. I was simply assisting two people by using a little creative license in the angle of the photo when thinksnow suddenly sat on my face. What was that cottage cheese-like substance you deposited on my forehead anyway? You might want to have that looked at by a professional—no I am not a professional in that arena.
I’d also like to point out that my pants were a figment of everyone’s imagination and that those chocolate martinis were non-alcoholic. You just thought you were drunk! Moreover, there was no nudity, quotable words uttered nor did anything remotely controversial occur. There is no need for me to straighten my halo.
Special thanks to Manservant, Sea and Sue for making that weekend possible for me. The three of you completely went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that I had an incredible time.
And to everyone else, you’re a great bunch of people. I utterly forgot every problem in my life for those 48 hours. I only wish I had had more time to hang out with everyone.
So, we’re all meeting in Redondo Beach this Friday, right?

Edwardina (we Buffy fans have got to stick together. It’s us against them, you know)
That’s right! I remember starting to talk Buffy with you on Saturday night, but then we got distracted by something (don’t ask me to remember what). I love that show – time stops between 7-8pm Tuesday’s in my house.
And Eddy’s a Buffy fan too!? Even more reason to like her (as if I need more reasons). We’ll have to start having discussions on Wednesdays
Well, I suppose it’s time for Esprix’s post-Dopetoberfest wrap-up as well.
Let me start off by saying thank you to everyone for your kind compliments. I do enjoy entertaining, so it’s nice to know that sometimes it works. And, hey, how 'bout those nametags - pretty clever, huh? Huh? I knew you would.
So I drove up from San Diego Friday night with a friend, dropped him off, went to North Hollywood, went two-stepping for a while with BoiToi (actually won a DVD of “Snow White” at the club), and then we went back to the hotel and, um… [sub]played tiddlywinks all night long.[/sub] (Heh, heh - now they’ll never know we actually had wild sweaty sex!)
Um, did I just sub the bold part and bold the sub part? DAMN!
Anywho, got up Saturday morning, had brunch in West Hollywood (the busboy tried to pick up BoiToi’s friend), and then went shopping at Fry’s (bought “The Remains of Tom Lehrer,” the definitive discography). Then we headed to Redondo Beach, where, upon our arrival at the motel, I dang near ran straight into a whole nest - nay, flock - of Dopers. Mercutio helped us check in, and we were off to the El Torito, where much fun was had.
I sat next to my old buddy SPOOFE and across from JimB, Scotticher (what a sweet sweet woman!) and beatle, and BoiToi was sitting next to Padeye. Being in charge of the nametags, it was great greeting people by saying, “Who the fuck are you, anyway?” I had a great time putting names to faces; sadly, I forgot them the moment I moved on to the next nametag, but for that brief millisecond I met you, I was very happy! (Needless to say, I can’t wait for that website to go up so I can remember who the hell I was talking to all night.) BoiToi kept referring to me as “the hostess with the mostess,” but that’s only because I was circulating handing out the nametags. Major, uber-kudos to our true hostess, Shayna, for doing all the legwork beforehand, including the daunting task of paying the ginormous bill. Tretiak was kind enough to hoist a glass to her and everyone who helped her both online and off, and I did my part by toasting the memories of Doc Watson and Wally.
Lots of fun things happened while I was circulating. I pretty much got a picture of everyone (and their nametags), so I’m looking forward to getting those developed. I must especially thank malkavia for the oversized novelty rose-scented rose and giving me an excuse to sing “The Masochism Tango,” which I know lots of people got pictures of (although her friend Stacey was giving me just a little bit of 'tude while you were out getting a cigarette [ ], and Jen was a little too willing to show off her [admittedly lovely] breasts to Tretiak for a beer). Of course, while I was off schmoozing, several people noted that I was leaving BoiToi all alone, but, knowing him as I do, I knew he’d have no trouble blending in with the rest of you freaks. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that every single female Doper was trying to dance with my date - notably Heloise (much to the dismay of Johnny L.A. and Tretiak)! With wiles like hers, I’m surprised I didn’t sleep alone Saturday night. (Note to self: never bring a date cuter than yourself to a Dopefest.) And I do hope he can help Johnny L.A. if he decides to make the move to Seattle. I loved my body glitter from SeaDiver, too - made me all sparkly.
I was rather confused by Sapphire Bullet and Joey Hemlock, as I wasn’t sure which was which when they swapped nametags (they’re so much alike - twins, I tell ya!). And Stoid gave me not only the opportunity to tell My Favorite SDMB Evil Poster Story (which seemed to amuse all eavesdroppers), but her lovely escort, Pump Action Gerbil, was rather handsome to admire as well (you know, I mean in addition to thinksnow, Demo, AlexB, Doobieous, and, um, yeah, all the rest of you guys). Speakign of, I even got to sign thinksnow’s t-shirt, and I gotta get myself one as well (lovely kilt, BTW, but mine’s bigger
). Got to meet Coldfire, who is not nearly the Nazi he’s made out to be (he is, however, just as Dutch as he’s made out to be). Also finally got to meet Strainger who has been to San Diego several times, but I keep missing him (don’t worry, I’ll plan a SanDiegDopefest soon). And wow, weirddave, it was a real pleasure to meet you - loved the pumpkin, and I’m only sorry I didn’t catch you argue with a cop in your bathrobe the night before. I gotta read more of your gay smut! I was very glad I also got to see a lot of other people I’ve met at previous fests, like Cowboy Greg and Don (of course I’m jealous of the shirt - bastard!), monster104 (who I know will take good care of Eduardo, who I passed on to him during dinner - yech!), JustPlainBoolabong… er, I mean, Bryan, Spiny Norman, and others. Hopefully more will be able to make the next one and we all will get to see each other again.
Afterwards it was back to the motel “to figure out what to do next,” which consisted of hanging out at the motel. My absolute favorite part of the whole weekend was while I was talking with someone there was this freaky girl staring at me. I kind of tried to ignore her, 'cause it looked like she might snap at any moment, when suddenly, I was right in the middle of a sentence, and she blurts out, “You’re my favorite poster!” like some star-struck midwestern yee-haw (no offense, beatle
) accidentally seeing a Hollywood star in a restaurant. I’m thinking, “Woo hoo, stalker lady here, great,” but it turns out it was just katiekilldare, who, being the clone of one of my best friends back in Philly, turned into one of my best friends at the Dopefest. (Truly, babe, you totally put my rocking to shame. OK, I’ll admit your husband is handsome [you know, for a white guy
], but I still think you should explain to him why your nickname for him is “Spree” - just so you can shout it out during sex! I am in awe of your wit and humor and smarts and niceness and boobage and hair and so forth - you made quite an impression on me, girlfriend!). Hung out with her, my minion woodstockbirdybird (“The cow is aloft! Metriculate! Metriculate!”), the ever-lovely Francesca and the mumbly AlexB (which is ok, since he loves Sondheim and knew all the songs I was singing), Doobieous (who should be congratulated by all - his hard work at the gym has paid off in spades), pricciar (who I love more than I’ll ever admit), and our own human beat-box Joey Hemlock (he’s smurvy-doopy, and had me in stitches most of the night - I just wish I had a better long-term memory and you weren’t so drunk so we could amuse ourselves all over again with what we said). Found out Anamorphic is the actual director of one of my favorite short films, “Hate” (about a man and a chicken and hell-bent revenge), and now I need to go see his feature-length coming out. beatle was a bit drunk, but sincere, so he’s ok in my book.
Poor BoiToi just couldn’t keep up, so he rested in our room for a while before joining us again for more tequila, and finally katie said they were about to kick us out of the motel, so I head off to bed for more of those [sub]tiddlywinks[/sub]. (I hope I got it right this time and didn’t bold the part about us having wild sweaty sex again.)
D’OH!
Sunday morning everyone who agreed to meet for breakfast at noon decided to abandon me and BoiToi and go off on their own, but fortunately Shayna pointed me to where everyone was. I went and picked up Mercutio (since his mom’s a meanie, but he’s not and gave me some wind-up Mickey shoes) and we arrived to have breakfast just in time to watch everyone else finish up. Despite wolfing down my pancakes, everyone abandoned us again, so we walked back to the motel, said our goodbyes, I dropped off BoiToi (reluctantly) and headed home to San Diego (after a brief stop for lunch in Long Beach to see a friend and then going straight to the theater to see “Iron Monkey” with jkusters and thomasm).
People I met but didn’t chat with nearly enough include: Manservant Hecubus/MrCynical, JimB, Demo, UncleBill, Nen, Padeye, Nymysys, psycat, Kyla, quixotic78, Sapphire Bullet, Diane, SeaDiver, A, Silver Fire, Sassy, slackergirl, Sue Duhnym, Wicked Blue, Ruffian (“Wheeeeeeeeeeee!”) and DeathLlama, boli, jab1, Edwardina (sorry 'bout the misspelling ), JavaMaven, Dave Swaney, and everyone else I just barely managed to say hi to in passing. We’ll make up for it at the next one, in chat, or here on the boards.
And for all I know, I did talk to you, but I can’t remember your screen name, so if we had some special moment, I remember it, I just don’t remember who I had it with. (Um, that really didn’t come out right… :o ) I really can’t wait for those pictures to hit the web now!
Condolences to those who couldn’t make it - Jodi (but thanks for the margaritas, even though I don’t drink - it made everyone else much more amusing for me to watch, though), warmgum, Phouka (I missed ya, babe), domina, Icarus, and some guy named Cecil who might have actually been there, as his nametag is gone, but I never saw…
So all in all it was certainly the best of the three Dopefests I’ve attended so far, and I look forward to seeing more people again in the future. Until then, remember - I made the nametags! <LOL!>

I did up until this season. For some reason I missed the first few weeks and then when I watched one episode I was completely lost, so I gave up.
Wanna catch me up on everything that’s happened through last night so I can start again?

I will! You haven’t missed all that much. I’ll get busy on an e-mail to catch you right up, unless Eddy’s beat me to it.

Woo! Thanks.
Oh! Email it to mauvaise3@home.com and not the other address from earlier. That was my work one and I only check it at work. @home I check all the time.
