Must. . . .resist. . . . temptation . . .

OMG! The lovebirds are alive!!! I was starting to think we were going to have to send in Search and Rescue!

The hot air balloon sounds very romantic, but we want DETAILS Shitna! You know, :::wink wink::: d-e-t-a-i-l-s :::nudge nudge::::

How :::a-hem::: was "it" :wink:

Ummm. I am not sure what this means. But, it is unfortunate that jab was unable to make this fest. jab1, I hope you are able to make the next one. I don’t think I have seen you at a fest, since the very first one, way back when!

Yes, I did finish the gihugic pile of fish. Next time I will avoid the vinegar. I just put it on one fish, as an experiment, so all was not lost with culinary experimentation. That huge plate of fish made Shayna oink at me. But, what can I say, I was really really hungry. (I was shocked by how much food there was, though. Even without lunch, I was sure I wouldn’t be able to finish it.)

pat

Pat, you DO know what it measn to “eat someone out”, right? Hint: It usually involves a female, but with a little creativity, that’s not necessarily a given.

I’m not sure Spoofe. Can you please draw a diagram include moving pictures. And perhaps a live model.

pat - who once again has been whoosed by not reading closely enough.

I was just going to make the comment that I don’t charge.

Well, if I had known that, Diane

I just can’t leave this thread, but there was one other thing I wanted to mention. Java’s pastries were delicious. Oh my they were very good. Thanks alot for making em and bringing them along.

Great stuff!

pat

Ye gods an’ little fishes! I forgot to mention Java’s pastries! Raspberry turnovers! Very tasty indeed!

Well, with school and all, this has been the first opportunity to post about the fest.

I had a delightful evening. I was seated between Mercutio and domina, both of whom are rather pleasant to chat with, even though I was supposed to kill Merc. I was also seated close enough to pricciar, JavaMaven, and JustPlainBrian (The non-member but hopefully soon-to-be member) to chat easily with them. All of them are delightful people to be with.

Since it was the night before my birthday, Shayna had a card with a little note from everyone in it (I particularly liked Johnny’s “Happy fucking birthday” note), and The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook (Now I know how to escape from a shark!). Thanks a bunch!

The food was plentiful and good. I had the queen-size fish & chips, and I got this free dessert thing that tasted good at first, but had this…odd taste, I guess I could say.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to talk to everyone like I had wanted to, but there is always next time!

Well, thanks for your flattery Johnny, you were quite a diverting companion also…but we don’t want this to turn into a flirt thread…

I agree with what everyone else said, and I believe a good time was had by all, despite the fact that the guys kept threatening each other with bodily injury. Despite their forewarnings, Monster and Spoofe didn’t require any disciplinary action in the car, and were perfectly charming. (Though they were right about being big.) And I was happy to provide the lift - I got many rides from friends during my pedestrian years, so I suppose it’s a matter of, um, car-ma. (ducks flying tomatoes)

Happy real birthday, Monster!

I had a great time as well. I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures. Shayna and Norman make a charming couple and were great to sit by, although my bitter old maid self did have to snarl silently a couple of times. And I probably could have lived without discussion on the palatability of human flesh. But all in all, it was great. Monster, you are going to have to sit by me next time so that we can actually talk!

Awwwww! {{{{Heloise}}}}!

SPOOFE: Pics up soon?

I finally made it to my first dopefest (after the first two I’ve missed) and let me tell you, I’m so glad I came!

First of all, JustPlainBryan and I came in to Ye Olde King’s Head at 6 pm. We were very early, because we were trying our damnedest to miss out on the traffic, and ended up getting there really early. So, considering we were starving, we went ahead and ate before anyone showed up (and watched the waitresses set up the party’s table). At seven, we moved over to the big table, and waited. And waited.

First to arrive were pricciar and Mercutio. I know I told Pat that I recognized him from the People Pages, but it really was the Elmo shirt ;). Everyone eventually showed up-- Shayna & Spiny are the cutest couple, even though I barely got to talk to them.

As we sat under the watchful eye of Sir Winston Churchill, we drank, we talked, we laughed, we sang snippets of Monty Python songs. Spoofer took lots of pictures–and I can’t wait to see them (when are they gonna be up, hmmmmm?).

I do have to apologize for leaving early, but Bryan had to wake up early for work (I’m the night owl out of the two of us)–I really would have loved to stay longer.

I’m going to make a suggestion for the next dopefest… we need to play musical chairs or be in a situation where we can move around a little more, because I didn’t get to talk to half of the group!

Well, when Spiny comes out again (in June, right?), we’ll have another one… maybe just in time for a barbeque [sub]or luau, or some kind of fiesta…[/sub]

Good idea. THis was a concern at one of the first dopefests the BADs had. So, at another (i forget! Oh my addled brain), we did a little rearranging of people.
Oh and if you have something in june, mayhaps i can show up? I’d definitely be able to afford it then, since i’d be working 40 hrs a week

Doob it goes without saying, you have a couch to sleep on at any future SoCal dopefest.
I don’t know where this couch is, but I am sure one of these people has one for you.

Nah, just kidding. You know there is a standing (Or sitting. Or Laying. Or whatever you want to do.) invitation to stay at my place before (and after) any upcoming dopefest.

pat

Hell, we barely got to talk to them and we saw them for a whole weekend in Amsterdam

I’ve never seen a duck fly a tomato. Must’a been SOME party!

Workin’ on it, y’all. I ain’t been at home almost all Thursday or Friday. Methinks I’ll get 'em up tonight.

You better SPOOFE!

Pricciar’s and I’s long journey with Moses to the fest… YET TO COME!

How ingrateful is it to be guest of honour and not respond to the thread ?

(Shayna) We tried several times to compose this reply and kept getting, uhm, distracted. Spiny’s home now, so I promised him I’d make sure this got posted ASAP. Please forgive our tardiness.

Thanks a bundle, all of you. Great evening.

First, a quick comment: We’re posting this together, so the viewpoint might change throughout the post. Think of it as an exercise for the reader.

That was a cool pub and a very cool crowd indeed. A place that serves Guinness and has pictures of Winston C. can’t be bad.

Monster104, happy birthday! Have you memorized the technique for running down the roof a moving train yet? (Note: Monster got a book on how to survive unlikely scenarios for his 18th.) (Shayna) So how does it feel to finally not be jail bait anymore? Hehe. And if you’re reading this, Grace, eat your heart out – I got to give the birthday boy a birthday kiss – woo hoo!

We were sitting across the table from the Spoofster, Johnny LA and bashere. A short but intense motorcycling debate quickly developed - bashere has just sold a bike like Johnny’s and bought one just like mine (Coldfire, eat your heart out!), so he was instantly considered among the Good Guys. We did, of course, go out to admire the new beauty and revel in the engine sound. (Shayna) Johnny, thanks for my pirate ship! It just wouldn’t be a Dopefest without one. Great to see you again!

Spoofster - cool fella! - remember to ask him about his Red Thing (it dangles) , if you get the chance.

On our left was the lovely Heloise, a woman as pretty as she is smart. (Shayna) Girlfriend, you are a hoot! Can’t wait 'til you take me to that den of iniquity you so mercilessly teased me with. I promise I’ll be phoning you!

Icarus, probably the most laid-back person present, as befits the nestor of the group. We’ll not go into details as to who was the second oldest (Ouch! Stop hitting me, Shayna!) (Shayna [who’s not hitting her sweetie]) Thanks for taking my food away from me, Icarus. Being so much younger, sometimes I need to be treated like a child. You were a lovely dinner companion and I hope you can make it to the next 'fest!

Spiny: I didn’t really get to talk to pricciar, Mercutio, domina, JavaMaven & Bryan - more’s the pity. Actually, I spent a lot more time listening than talking – those Americans have the most fascinating language, not entirely unlike English :stuck_out_tongue: (Shayna) JavaMaven, thank you so much for the yummy, yummy pastries! I wish we’d have gotten to chat more – definitely next time. Bryan’s a doll – I’m glad you brought him along. Merc, thank you for helping organize this whole thing – as out of touch as Spiny and I were, it would never have come off without you. Well, something would’ve come off, but not the Dopefest – hehe. Pat, we really have to sit at the same end of the table next time. Once again, we didn’t get a chance to talk to each other all evening :(. Domina, thank you a ton for going out of your way to pick up SPOOFE and Monster. You’re such a sweetie and it was great meeting you!

Diane is nosy:

Spiny: As owner & operator of “it”, I’ll be watching this answer closely…

Shayna: “IT” rocked. And rocked. And rocked some more. 'Nuff said

Thank you again, everybody, for joining Spiny and me, especially mid-week. It was truly a blast and I know he loved getting to meet the local Dopers. He’ll be back in June, so we’ll definitely have to organize another gathering.
