So UncleBill and I were thinkin’ the other day…dangerous habit, I know, but anyway, we got the notion in our heads that a Miami Dopefest needs to be set up sometime soon. Since the first Miami Dopefest was such a crashing success and all. (Everyone who attended got lucky!)
Bill’s birthday is September 3, which falls immediately after Labor Day, so maybe some Florida Dopers, and maybe even some out-of-towners, might wanna come help me spank him…er, help us celebrate this happy occasion.
The house should be ready to receive visitors by then–we’ve got spiffy new digs just outside of Coral Gables, with a big backyard suitable for entertaining, and of course many, many local attractions.
So, anyone up for this? If we get enough interest, we’ll get some lodging info and make more specific plans.
May I add that Miami is not as hot as Orlando during this time of year? It NEVER breaks 100 degrees here, and the hurricances tend to not hit that often. We have hurricane shutters if they do, too. We are not on that reclaimed Everglades land that always floods, this is real dry stuff. And we haven’t had a shooting here since we have lived here!
I’m not much of a regular around here, but I do lurk quite a bit. I can’t make it though. I virtually live around the corner, but I’ll be out of town that weekend.
Sorry but I can’t make it. Miss Punk will be out of town and I have a doggie dog to look after. Like RTFirefly said though if it were in Tampa I’d be there. I’m sure Broccoli would come too.
