Ladies, can we talk about panties?

For a lot of us, though, there’s going to be some, um…moisture regardless of the time of month. That’s what pantiliners are for–but that means panties must be worn.

Heh, for someone like me, who most definitely has an ass (14" difference between my waist and hip measurements) boy shorts are what I should wear if I want panty lines. The leg opening is cut at the same spot (comparing front to back), so the back of the leg stretches over the butt and is pulled higher, so the seam runs directly across the butt cheek; meanwhile, the front leg opening has excess fabric bunching up along the seam in the leg crease. This also means that boy shorts give me Epic Wedge, and going up a size only makes them big enough to not stay up.

I’m a guy but I’ve had at least 2 girlfriends who agreed with me on this: unless it’s really cold or you’re wearing a short skirt, why any panties at all?

See viva’s post, Jasper, two above yours.

Not to mention, it just isn’t very comfortable. There’s weird chafing and stuff. I’ve done it, but it isn’t as nice as wearing some good panties.

Yeah, I saw that. It just never seemed to be much of an issue(no pun intended) with the gals I’ve known.

Oh, and the chafing I understand, too. I wear underwear with new jeans for sure. But in most pants, I’m more comfy without than with.

Bully for you and them. Those of us in this thread feel differently about the subject, as evidenced by our participation in a thread about buying panties.

You know, this kind of thing is why I hate trying to have any sort of underwear shopping discussion on this board. There is always a contingent of guys popping in to say “Don’t wear any! Hur hur hur,” or “This thread is useless without pictures! Hur hur hur.” (I must admit the question about pubic hair sticking out of panties is a new low of adolescent prurience even for this sort of thread.) I wish that once, just one goddamn time, we could have a serious and mature discussion on the subject without guys having to pop and make this sort of commentary, but I know I might as well wish for the moon, a million dollars, and a pony.

Well yeah, but don’t guys have the same problem? I just don’t wear those pants again that week. Generally it’s not as bad, because the crotch of the pants are rubbing there like the underwear does. (Obviously, ymmv)

I dunno. I read them both as being serious questions. Or, at least, semi-serious. Where else can you ask people of the opposite and therefore more mysterious gender these kinds of questions?

Sorry if I offended you, but my comment was not meant to be immature or prurient. As I said, I’ve known women who rarely wore panties and considered them an uncomfortable waste of money. Just wondered if that opinion was so rare.

Jesus. You’ve really got your panties in a twist over nothing.

I have cats, and cats shed hair and claw husks. I prefer to keep both items out of my pinkest and most delicate parts.

Plus, most clothes are made to be worn with panties. The seams on jeans, in particular, are not comfortable if one goes commando, IME. And there’s the moisture issue.

Bumping this thread because I just got an email from Victoria’s Secret that they’re starting a panty sale tomorrow, both online and in stores: 7 pairs of $26, which is less than 4 bucks a pair.

Since they got so much love on this thread, I thought I’d share.

still loitering creepily… hoping to hear more about pink delicate parts…

Astroboy14, do you have any idea how you just presented yourself with that post? I don’t think you do.

Hope my comments/questions above didn’t strike you that way.

Perhaps not… do I offend?

I always appreciated that SDMB represent the full spectrum, ie, including moi… :dubious:

My wife doesn’t own a pair, as far as I know. She doesn’t wear short skirts.
