Ladies: Do you prefer a hairy or hairless chest on a guy?

FTR, my chest is hairy, but not nearly as hairy as Steve Carell’s.

Baby, whatever the package comes with makes me happy as can be. Maybe if there’s tons and its harsh, a little conditioner while in the shower. That’s about it.

The only places I really don’t like seeing hair on a man is coming out of the nostrils and the ears. All the rest just reminds me of that wonderful difference I so enjoy.

Good point. Nose and ear hair is gross. Seriously, can’t you see that? My dad always has prominent nose hair, and he’s a professional. Ugh.

Lets assume that to please a SO, someone got something like a mustache trimmer, set the ‘comb’ part at about a 1/2 inch, and … umm … ‘trimmed all the bushes’.

Q: is there any risk that it would make the remaining ‘crop’ more… abrasive?

Yes, it absolutely does. I once dated Sasquatch (or his cousin, anyway), and he would trim just like you described. It was awful - sharp pointy hairs everywhere. And I do mean *everywhere *- the bits which are generally hairy on most men, like the upper chest, he’d trim to about 1/2 an inch. The bits that weren’t supposed to be hairy - like the top of his shoulders, his entire back, his upper arms, his neck all around etc., he’d shave down to the skin. He asked me to help him with the bits he couldn’t reach. hurls

It *all hurt growing out - every hair was cut to a sharp point on the end. I couldn’t stand it. I *had razor burn on every part of my body just from sleeping next to him. It wasn’t the reason we broke up (the reason would be that he was an overcontrolling asshole), but it sure didn’t add to the “pro” side of the equation on that relationship!

If you want to trim, consider waxing and letting it grow out. It’ll grow out without sharp ends. And really, waxing doesn’t hurt THAT much. Steve Carrell was hamming it up a bit.

Either or, but if it is literally holding your shirt out from your body an inch or two you may want to shave.

Also I am not into the “hunted for his pelt” look.

I do however always enjoy a “trail to the treasure” and a little patch is nice against my (naturally) hairless chest.

But if he has no hair he would not be penalized for it. Skin on skin is nice too.

Really? Mel Gibson also made it look mighty painful (but, at least, not a process likely to draw blood) in What Women Want.

 The thought of applying wax to that problem makes me tremble!

Actually of an area is really fuzzy it does bleed - I waxed a buddy’s back, when the hair is long and thick you do bleed, especially the first few times.

SCISSORS!

Well, no shaving for me, but hairless and thin is not bad, but I don’t like heavy men with no hair. I think that if you have man boobs, they need hair to make them look manly.

What about guys that have a little back and shoulder hair? In threads like this posters are always saying things like “mmm, hairiness can be sexy…except for the back and shoulders-- wouldn’t touch those guys with a ten-foot pole! Ick!” Are these things dealbreakers or minor turnoffs or what?

I agree with this post in its entirety. Well said, phouka!

The smoother the better!

If I weren’t married, I’d say send the guys with back and shoulder hair to me. You girls and gay guys who don’t like them don’t know what you are missing…

handlebars?

I used to be a fan of hairless, but now I appreciate the man-fur. I don’t even care if your back is hairy. It’s all good.

My preference is hairless, but the boys I’ve dated have run the gamut from smooth-as-a-baby’s-butt to more-than-a-little-woolly, and I was attracted to them all. The Boy has a patch of chest hair that is enough to be masculine, but not enough to be furry, and I’m pretty happy with the situation.

This is how I feel too. If you’ve got it, hang on to it and keep it soft and trimmed, but not shaved. If ya don’t, stay the course and don’t will yourself to have more hair, I guess.

I will admit that I prefer a range of not so hairy to hairless chests on my guys, but it’s not a dealbreaker. Grooming more than I do might be, though.

My real reason for the no-hair preference? I’m a licker and a biter, people. Hair is not fun to do those things to at all.

Humm - I think a moderate amount is kinda nice - it’s fun to play with.

But a fella certainly wouldn’t be put out of the running if he was hairless or super hairy.

Totally shaved would kinda freak me out though. It’s very male-striperish, which isn’t particularly appealing.
