Uh, no, I’ve never really gotten anything like that. A couple “How YOU doin’?” messages, just expressing interest or whatever, but that’s been ages ago now.
Yeah, it crossed my mind that it might be some sort of scam bait, which I suppose is why I eventually declined the request, but I have no idea what the scam could have been. There is nothing in my user profile to even that I am male, and only a small minority of my posts make the facts apparent, so why did she pick on me? (Unless lots of other people got requests like this and have not mentioned it.) I did think of reporting it to the mods, but she did not seem to really have done anything wrong, just weird. Furthermore, there was no explicit come on. There was not even any physical description that I can recall beyond the facts that she was 19, had red hair, and was short. Nothing to suggest voluptuousness or or sexual looseness. If it was a (fake) sexual come-on, it was very subtly done compared to most spammy or scammy stuff.
Was it a longtime poster?
Whoa, that is seriously screwed up. What goes through the mind of someone who does something like that?
I’ve gotten them when I use a variety of usernames - I’m not sure they are targeting ‘male’ usernames. I have a suspicion that they might be generated from cam sites, so you send them a response and eventually they tell you to log onto CAM123sendmemoney or whatever.

Got a PM from a barrister in Togo offering me $15 million, seems legit. Apparently they sought me as next-of-kin after a car crash, as they have the same last name as me. Not sure how many people in Togo have the last name ‘Kobayashi’, but what luck!

I admit, there have been a few posters who really creep me out (nobody in this thread, though, so don’t worry!), but nobody here has been directly creepy towards me, whether out in the open in the forum, or through PM.
I think I’ve only had about 3 PMs period in all my time on and off the Dope. None creepy. Back before PMing was used, I exchanged e-mails with a couple guys that occasionally went into suggestive territory, but that was mutual and consensual. And they probably discovered that I suck at flirting anyway.
I would love to learn how often this type of romantic overture bears fruit.
