Me, I’m pear-shaped - at 5’5" and 38"-28"43" I’m very pear-shaped, which makes buying pants a bastard. I have one pair of jeans that I really like, and if I put more than 3 lbs on, I can’t fit into them anymore. :smack: My hips and thighs are my least favourite bits, but I always have a relatively flat stomach.
So what are you? Pear-shaped? Apple-shaped? Straight-up-&-down? Hollywood-shaped (i.e., straight-up-&-down but with big boobs, you lucky thing)?
And what type of clothes do you find fit you best? (hipsters, A-line skirts, tailored pants, etc.)
I have big ole hips and boobs and (had) a defined waist (I’m pregnant now). I guess that would make me an hourglass…albeit a big one
Big big boobs. Big big hips. At my thinnest, it’s an obvious hourglass shape. Right now I’m a little chunky, (working on trimming it down, just so much good food nearby!) and I look… I don’t know. Getting pants over the hips is a pain, but once they’re over, no problem. And forget buttoned blouses… the top three buttons? Pop, pop, pop!
muttering I’ll talk to you when I’m done with my pilates.
Skeleton with some T&A. I’m really thin but I actually have something ressembling a figure too. As far as clothes–if I can find it in my size (not always easy) it probably looks good on me, though I do have a minor problem with shirts in that often the designers think I have bigger boobs than I do.
I am a pear at the moment (40-36-44). Trying to lose weight, then I’ll go back to my hourglass (I am about 20 pounds from the higher end of my ideal weight).
Funny, back when I was 16-17 or so I’d gain weight evenly. I used to be 215 pounds and was commonly mistaken for being 170ish. Around 145 people think I’m 120.
Now I’m 24 and it all goes to my ass and hips sigh.
I’m a pear (36-28-40), or as I like to call it: “a size 8 torso on a size 14 ass”. The effect is magnified by the fact that my shoulders are very small.
Clothes shopping is my special hell.
Pear with big boobs.
I gave up on the fashion industry years ago, though.
I’m an hourglass, too. Jeans - no problem - I get mine custom made at Lands End: http://www.landsend.com/cd/index/fp/0,,49299,00.html?sid=4142187513212193040
Shirts that button up the front are what annoy me.
Pear-shaped (which, I have been assured time and again, is healthy!)
37"
27"
40"
I dislike wearing jeans - I prefer the freedom of movement of skirts.
I’m a pudgy hourglass. Even with the extra weight, the hourglass shape is definitely there; defined waist, large hips, a large ribcage and shoulders, and a large chest. In addition to this, I seem to have a larger frame than most clothing manufacturers in my area had planned for. I am constantly having to either choose something in a ladies’ size that needs some altering or a men’s style that covers up enough but still fits awkwardly. A good chunk of my winter wear is men’s long sleeved shirts and sweaters.
I have a weird shape. Wide shoulders, decent-sized boobs, not much of a waist, narrow hips, good legs. Sort of an inverted triangle, although I find as I get older, I am becoming slightly more hourglass-shaped. My waist is becoming more defined and my butt is getting bigger. I ain’t complaining, so long as my legs stay like they are. I look good in boot-cut trousers, button-down blouses, and v-neck tops.
I have no idea what shape I am. Either my bottom is a little too big or my top is a little too small. I’m not pear-shaped, exactly, unless it’s one o’ them skinny Bosc pears. 35-26-37 – you tell me. (Also, I’m short - not quite 5’2")
Straight up and down. Sort of a box-shape, really. Bust and hips are ok but waist. What waist?
I don’t mind shopping for blouses and dresses, depending on the style but skirts and trousers are a nightmare. If they fit in the waist, they’re too loose in the bum and legs. I’d do more sewing for myself but I waste far too much time on the internet these days.
I’m a slight hourglass at 5’2 and around 33-24-34. I’m not entirely sure where you are supposed to measure. Finding clothes is difficult for me because I am too small to fit into the ‘normal’ stuff unless I go to expensive places. I can fit into children’s sizes - medium children’s sizes. I also have wide hips but not much of a belly. Low-rise pants fit the best on me because the regular ones always seem to have room to spare near the top. I have to be careful how I sit though, because if I slouch while wearing them, my belly starts creeping over. My legs aren’t the best, so I like wearing jeans or long skirts. My breasts are actually small when compared to my rib size, so low cut shirts just look dumb on me. I like button-down shirts and t-shirts and anything that makes it look like I have a massive chest.
Top-heavy hourglass, I’d say. It’s not as great a shape as you might think. Anything big enough for my boobs is invariably too big for my arms, and anything that accomodates my hips hangs off my waist and ass. It could be worse, though, shopping-wise.
I’m an apple. Really unhealthy, but I’m trying to work on that. I’m about 80 pounds overweight. I carry it fairly well, as I’m tall and thick (big bones and all that).
51, 40, 35. I cannot wear women’s clothing. Period. I’ve yet to find a shirt that doesn’t come in at the waist, which accentuates my roll. All pants are cut with huge hips for my big waist (I need it 6 inches smaller the other way, thanks). I have no butt.
At my healthy weight I’m the hollywood type, giant boobs, tubular torso and hips. Got to get back to my healthy weight!
Hmm, I’ve got a strange craving for pears now…
Or grocery shoping will never be the same again.
Boy’s figure. Thin, [too thin at the moment] broad shoulders, small boobs, small butt, long legs.
Sweaters are always too narrow at the shoulders & pants too big around the waist / or too short.
Straight up and down. 5’8"ish, no boobs so to speak but my ass is decent enough. And my legs are long which is utter crap because jeans are almost always too short. Half the time, the jeans that are labeled as “long” are too short, if they even bother to carry “long” sizes.
That more or less sounds like a perfect hour-glass shape. I would LOVE to have a 26" waist and 37" hips, but I’d probably lose my boobs if I slimmed six inches off my bottom-half.
