My company gives birthdays off with pay and mine happens to be today.
I’ll put up my Christmas tree and play Christmas music. I have all day to point and the tree and say to the cat, “NO!” over and over and pretend that he will listen. I’ll do a little Christmas shopping and get the kid’s presents squared away. But I can do it all without having to hurry, so I’ll enjoy it.
I’m a puzzle editor. The job involves having an unabridged dictionary on my desk. One day, I was looking something up, and I actually said to my officemate, “Hey, get a load of the vars [variant spellings] on [some word, I don’t remember].”
Yup, way too excited over the large number of variant spellings of some word.
I didn’t notice anything odd about this till my officemate, a fellow nerd with his own unabridged dictionary on his own desk, looked at me and started cracking up.
I’ve been playing around with HTML coding for a while now, and I recently downloaded an HTML editor along with a Flash creation program. I spent all day Sunday playing with it and oohing and aahing over how easy it was to do after months of coding in Notepad (look how easily I can change colors! Look at this table wizard! Wow - drag and drop image placement!), and then I’d call my husband over to view my lame little Flash animations. I am such a geek sometimes.
I got 2 CD set of the German ** Blondel **.
I found a book in the dollar rack that mentions the 1972 show ** Hulla Baloo **. And then on ebay I got the ** Plays and Players ** magazine that has a review of the show. Now i just need a programme.
Theatre musical obssessed people are really, really pathetic.
I got most of my Christmas shopping done yesterday. Even the little Secret Santa things for work. That’s usually a pain to find little $1-2 gifts that don’t seem cheap.
We’re getting our tree and Christmas decorations out tonight. It’s fun decorating the house.
The day I installed Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) on my computer was probably the most exciting lame moment of my life. In fact, whenever an update to my operating system or software is released, I can’t wait to get home and install it.
I once nearly had an orgasm when I saw the MST3K version of “Manos: Hands of Fate” in a video store for the first time.
And I still get pretty excited when I run across “Wargames” on TV, despite having seen it 53,634 times.
School lunch today was a choice of nachos or chicken sandwich and fries. I bring my lunch, but two of my friends bought each different lunch. (In my little lunch group, we eat everyone else’s food like it’s our own.) So just as Tommy finished his nachos, Jeannie still had some fries left…perfect for cheesy fries!
Tonight is a night I’ve been waiting for for literally months. A bunch of my work friends and my husband play in a roller hockey league. At the beginning of last season I finally bent to their peer pressure and said I would join the team, although I wanted a season to learn the basics first (things like, oh, how to pass, and how not to fall down when wheels are attached to my feet …)
The new season has begun.
The team is ready.
Tonight is my FIRST HOCKEY GAME. I’m so freakin’ excited that I’ve been telling people all day. And really nervous that I’m going to be a colossal screwup, but there’s not much I can do about that at this point.
I’m two sentences away from finishing my final paper in my religion class and I’m so excited to have it almost done with. And my friend Sam lent me a copy of her Ben Folds CD, and I’m listening to this beautiful song called “the luckiest,” and it is just wonderful to hear. It’s a song I wish my SO knew about and would play for me. I think I’ll burn a CD for him over Winter Break and put this on it.
I put up Christmas lights! I’ve been so excited about Christmas for the past week or so - its like I’m a little kid again. I literally wake up in the morning and ask “Is it Christmas yet?”. The other night, I was singing Christmas songs to my SO, while he was rolling his eyes and wanting to sleep. So anyways, I went to Canadian Tire today for an oil change and I bought lights, and we strung them up in the window, and they are so cool! This is the first time I’ve even remotely decorated any house other than my parents’! And now I can’t wait to go home for Christmas (10 days!!!)
