Our second round was tasty, but small with only three participants.
Give me some hope people! I want to see more faces!
And lunch ideas! Otherwise we’ll be hitting all of my favorites.

I’m in again. How about going to Bahama Breeze (114 & MacArthur, in the same area as Red Hot & Blue)? I heard on the radio this morning that they’re serving lunch now.
By the way, for those who’ve never heard of the place, Bahama Breeze serves caribbean food. Here’s the menu:
http://www.bahamabreeze.com/food.html
The web site says they’re open at 4 p.m. every day, but I called the Las Colinas location and they confirmed that they’re open for lunch M-F now.
I ate at a Bahama Breeze in Orlando a couple of years ago and it was so good I wanted to cry. Some of the things we had:
[ul][li]the Creole goat cheese appetizer, which arrived baked in a red bell pepper and served with garlic toast rounds. The tang of the goat cheese was perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the pepper - I wanted to order another for dessert.[/li][li]the Jamaican grilled chicken wings. When we ordered them, the waiter got all nervous and repeatedly warned us that they were “really hot”; when he brought them to the table he was handling them like they were glazed with nuclear waste. They had a nice tingle but they didn’t seem that hot. They rub them with jerk seasoning and grill them, all three sections of the wing (including the pointy one that you don’t eat) still articulated. They looked like pterodactyl wings. I kept wanting to say “yabba dabba doo” while I munched on one. Delicious.[/li][li]For my entree, I chose ropa vieja. This is a dish that’s spanish in origin; the name means “old clothes.” It’s beef slow-simmered with peppers and onions until it just falls apart into shreds - like pot roast but with a lot more flavor.[/li][li]I had the key lime pie for dessert. The tart/sweet creamy filling was the perfect fire extinguisher to end the meal with. Ahhhh.[/ul][/li]
So who wants to go?
Yum!
I definitely think this is the next place to go - however, after I started this thread, I realized that we are getting together on Saturday, so this Friday seems a little redundant.
So let’s aim for next Friday at Bahama Breeze.
Hey ** Zyada** I wanted to say thank you for doing this…it’s very cool of you! Also, I’m out this Friday since it’s my B-day and next Friday I’ll be in Cancun, but I WANT TO COME AND WILL DO SO…please keep this up!
That works for me. I love the Greek place on MacArthur too!
Now, this is odd - I’m in Cozumel this Friday, and next week…ah, just kidding, it’s not my birthday next week. I don’t know if BottledBlondJeanie and I can appear at the same function, for obvious reasons.
It’s just par for the course that y’all are dining at a nice Caribbean restaurant this week - think of me while I’m dining on that odd “all-inclusive resort” food.
:: ducks and runs, avoiding heavy objects thrown in my direction ::
Bahama Breeze good…
So…nothing this week? Rats! I’m around until Monday and still haven’t met any DFW Dopers!
Or did I miss something already?
Well, pilot141, you could come up to Plano to the party on Saturday.
Check this thread: DFW folks, Texans or Whoever - I’m having a party.
I’m sorry to say this in a thread about food, but for a second I thought the above said “I want to see more feces!”
What? You thought I was throwing a shit fit?
Now that the party is over, it’s time to get together for lunch again!
Bahama Breeze
Friday
Would 1:30 be ok for people? One person I know wants to attend but his schedule is keeping him away.
1:30 would be fine for me (I’ll actually be in town!), but might be too late for other people.
ARRRRRGH
I forgot that this friday (8/1), I’ll be out of town.
Sigh.
After all that orgiastic food porn I provided up there, I’m not going to be able to go. This is frustrating in the extreme.
Since I can’t come this Friday, I don’t suppose everyone would hold off on Bahama Breeze for a week, would they?
Instead, you can go to the Greek place thatsylphishone mentioned - it’s called “The Verandah” - because even though I like the place, I can’t let myself go there anymore because I get so out of control at all-you-can-eat buffets.
Help out your buddy - what do you say, folks?
I’d love to join y’all for lunch, but I’m back on my regular works schedule. I’m unavailable for lunch unless there’s a school holiday or if I can one of those 24-hour-but-I-get-over-it-right-after-lunch bugs.
Hey, Lord Jim - what do you think?
Jim and are are planning on attending. We will also bring Noah.
Feeling MPD today, Jim?
I usually feel MPD, actually.
Who me?
Yes, you.
No way.
Nevermind!
