So, the new season started. I only watched the first hour of the auditions and the NY show. As usual, I have to constantly remind myself that they cannot show us all the material performed, so that when I’m sitting there going, “Why the hell’d they pick that person?!” (Greenwich, CT lady, I’m looking at you!), I know that perhaps they were outrageously funny in every moment except the ones shown on camera.
Also as usual, there are some contestants who are closer to professional than amateur. Arj Barker, funny as I find you, I’m looking at you (and remembering the 2 different Comedy Central specials I have seen you in.)
Anyone else watch? Bill Bellamy, while scarce on camera last night, is already a much better host than Anthony Clarke last season.
I’m going to watch the rest of the season, but I found the first episode last season to be frustrating - the only comic of that bunch that I really liked didn’t get picked, so I skipped last night. (well, it was One Tree Hill’s finale too). Although I’ve seen 3 seasons of LCS before, last year was the first time I saw the pre-house episodes…and I think I prefer it my old way. Are they all done picking now?
Big Fat Canadian Gay Guy: Funny, shoulda made it.
Mel Silverback: Sorta funny, but not going to be able to sustain the schtick with any quality.
Arj Barker: Very funny. As lorene said, closer to a pro, but there isn’t any distinction made in this show.
Little Curly-Haired NY Girl: Kinda funny, but took up a spot that should’ve went to someone else.
Redhead DC Guy In NY: Someone else.
Obvious Lesbian Canadian Woman: Very funny.
Greenwich Lady: Not close to funny. How she won “Audience Choice” or whatever is beyond me.
Teeny-tiny short-haired girl: Kinda funny, more suited to Harry Potter lookalike contests, though.
