I was a little surprised too. Kathleen Madigan was a good choice. Was Ant the one with the drive-thru joke? I liked that one. The hot guy I liked too. Funny, I can’t remember his name. Bonnie McFarlaine, no. Maybe everyone was just so shocked after the “c-word” joke, they failed to see that the rest of her jokes weren’t funny. Looking forward to tonight!
Of the five that were chosen, Kathleen Madigan and “the hot guy” were the only ones who I thought were funny. I really don’t think Ant deserved to go on.
I sort of agree except I didn’t really remember Kathleen. The only other people I remember laughing at were Dan the Iranian and old Monty. It was like they were just choosing tokens. The token black guy, the token gay guy and they token “edgy” chick (who said the “C” word). None of which I thought were very funny.
I was really surprised they didn’t pick Dan because it seemed like they all laughed a lot and even Jay Mohr said he was really funny and he didn’t comment on many others like that.
There was a big brouhaha at the time this was filmed – Drew Carey and Brett Butler came out publicly saying that the people they had voted for weren’t the ones chosen. The producers reserve the right to put in whoever they want – the “judges” are more like “advisors,” they have no actual say.
Clearly, part of what they’re doing is trying to goose the dynamics in the house.
I’m really cheesed that Dan Ahdoot didn’t make it.
Mostly because I went to school with him, back when he was in the Buttered Niblets. (the campus comedy troupe.) I had no idea he didn’t go on to med school until I happened to land on Last Comic Standing while flipping channels last night. I didn’t see most of the other contestants, but Dan was way funnier than both the See You Next Tuesday girl and the drive through fairy guy. He was robbed.
Wasn’t this the show that the judges were badmouthing in the news after taping because the producers overruled all their picks?
I liked the older guy (Hoffman? Huffman?). “Hey, you’re the guy from the Operation game!”
I knew Ant would be in, although he wasn’t one of the funniest. When they were down to two more keys, I was rooting for Hoffman and Ahdoot, but I knew the producers would want a gay guy in the house. When Bonnie won (!) I knew that neither of my two picks would make it, since Ant was going to be next.
When Dan Ahdoot broke out the same exact routine as he used last week I was pretty disappointed and not sorry he got the boot. I know that comedians have set routines, but he’s gotta have another 5 minutes of something.
I was quite pleased that ?? Holcombe made it, and when the stoo-pid face chunky girl got the boot.
Didn’t think that Ant deserved it, but I guess the more VH1 commentators/comedians/careerless folks the better. That and the fact that he’s the token gay guy. Sure hope he’s not a one joke act, but I bet he is.
There is something subjective about comedy. I love Ant, I loved him last year and I think he’s funnier this year. But I also love Dan Ahdoot and can’t imagine why (based on humor) he got left out and Bonnie was picked to go on. I didn’t think the black guy (Corey?) was that funny either, I would have gone with the woman who is married to a comic–the one with the twins.
This year, it it blatantly obvious that they are picking people to make the house part more interesting. At least last year, I could see why someone could think each member of the house was funny, even when I didn’t like their act.
It’s like with “Playboy” and the Playmate of the Year. The readers’ vote is … well, hell, I don’t know if it has any bearing on Hefner’s pick! It might not even be important enough to be labeled “advisory.” I suppose if Hefner liked a girl and she came in dead last, he might think, “Wow, I really missed the boat on that one! Maybe I should reconsider!” Or maybe he doesn’t give a rat’s ass.
Todd Glass IS NOT FUNNY. He is, however, an ass and if that’s what gets him into the house, that’s fine but he is no funnier than Dan Natterman (who deserved to be in).
The comedians in the house I like,
-Kathleen Madigan (I have a crush on her)
-Gary Gulman
-XXXX London (the evolutionary chart guy)
-Alonzo Boden
One of these four should win, their acts are the tightest and they vary their material. The are by far the most mature of them. They link jokes together well and have tested material - and enough of it that they can vary their material. I’m not at all upset at who got in and how didn’t (besides Dan Natterman who should be in and Todd Glass who should be out) because those four are a level above.
Jessica Kirson was painful to watch and personally I’m glad she’s gone. I find it annoying. I have nothing against the lady though, she seems very nice.
