Holy Shit! That’s more survivors than all the people we’ve seen on the show up till now put together. And unless they all promptly die as soon as the gang meets them it would radically change the show’s premise so much I think the gang could just end up missing them when they move. Or it could be a hope spot for a possible series finale; any word yet on whether this has been renewed or cancelled?
Well this works as a series finale, but leaves a bunch of material for another season to explore. Tandy finally addressed the elephant in the room about their unsustainable lifestyle (not that they’ll ever be able to grow meds for Melissa). On the other they appear to have settled in the middle of another group’s orchard (probably not as ominous as it looks though) and it didn’t occur to anyone that Jasper could end up taking a self-driving car to an empty Cancun.
Looking around the net; the ratings aren’t good.
However, the network owns the show and one more season may give them enough episodes to qualify for syndication so it may make financial sense to do one more season.
Regarding where the plot goes from here, I see problems for Tandy and company.
The people they’ve encountered are wearing some sort of air filters, probably indicating that they either lack immunity, believe they lack immunity, or are unsure about their immune status.
Now they’ve encountered a small band of immune individuals who’ve been walking around breathing unfiltered air. These people could be symptom free carriers, so they may be hesitant to welcome them into their underground community. In fact they may feel that the safest course would be to eliminate this group of potential plague carriers.
Well this sucks,
but it’s not that big of a surprise. I guess there’s a slim chance Hulu or Netflix might pick it up, but I’m not counting on it.
The “100 episodes for syndication” is not as important in the age of Netflix/Hulu/Prime and others. Brooklyn 99 has already been on TBS or TNT, and at 5 seasons when the show finishes, it will only be just over 100 episodes.
That does suck.
