iZombie season 4

Still a month away, but this trailer is out.

It has been so long that I had forgotten about the whole “zombie city” twist.

Thanks for the heads up!
I also am forgetting some plot points

WHew, I was worried it had been cancelled.

Wow! The season is about to be upon us! I was imagining having to wait until April or, at the very least, well into March before things kicked off. I can hardly wait for another one of those delightful montages where Liv shows us her latest spin on the best way to cook up some brains.

Reminder: This starts tonight (Monday, Feb 26)

Every time I see Jason Dohring I link Logan from Veronica Mars
So Fillmore Graves has taken over, but they still allow the previous police some power – not sure where the division is. And are they watering down brain packs because supplies are truly low, or as a way to keep control? Probably a little of both.
Is someone making an escape tunnel? There was the conversation about digging equipment, but I don’t remember it going anywhere.

I was genuinely worried about the show’s ability to maintain quality going into this season. They blew up the world last season and that usually doesn’t go well, but that was a quality season opener.

I’m excited!

Biggest nitpick -
there is no way a Seattle cop standing in a Seahawks themed room would have to ask “What was February 1, 2015?” (In fact, they probably wouldn’t have to ask no matter where they were standing)

Other than that, it’ll be interesting seeing how they deal with the change in their universe.

I thought maybe the watering down was someone skimming off the top.

So I just watched the first ep of the 4th season. This is… an interesting shift. I guess they had to do Zombie city at some point, but I’m not sure how much I like it. I was a huge fan of the zombies trying to stay hidden plots.

Fitting, since both shows were created by Rob Thomas and have similar sensibilities.

Dohring just looks so freakin’ weird now. Body building has not been kind to him.

I am so glad you said this. My wife and I keep commenting on him, too. His hairstyle is not helping.

I said, “Uh, he’s starting to look weird as he ages.”

He looked way more normal and handsome in Veronica Mars.

Being old enough to remember watching Missing Persons videos on MTV, I don’t think I will ever stop being distracted by the fact that the show has a character named Dale Bozzio. What an incredibly random pop culture reference. I wonder if the real Dale Bozzio is ever going to stop by to make a cameo appearance?

I know there was a thread somewhere about TV shows that use the theme song “in universe” at some point, but I can’t find it again. But I noticed that iZombie joined the list last night (playing on the radio during Major and Don E’s road trip.)

Also, what is up with Random French Guy?

It was nice to see Weevil (Francis Capra) from Veronica Mars. And nice bit from Rachel Bloom

I could almost buy the existence of a bizarre pathogen that turns people into pseudo-zombies, but the casual abandonment of a major U.S. city is going too far. It’s not at all clear what the heck is going on at this point - if Seattle has been quarantined, how is it getting food and electricity? How is Babineaux still investigating murders on behalf of the Seattle Police Department if “New Seattle” has become an isolated military dictatorship under Fillmore Graves? Why did every uninfected human not flee the city and what’s keeping them there now? Why would the U.S. army threaten to shoot people trying to escape? Why are they not sending in drones and snipers to take out every FG soldier, on the basis that by deliberately infecting ten thousand Seattle residents with zombie virus, Fillmore Graves has engaged in biological terrorism? Why is letting them keep Seattle, and delivering brains as food, considered an acceptable response?

Of course, it still bothers me that FG soldiers, who can only be killed by a serious head injury, are running around in basic brain-buckets instead of full-coverage helmets made of multiple layers of Kevlar. Of course, you wouldn’t be able to see the actors’ faces, but c’mon.

Speaking of shows I thought cancelled, CW just brought back Originals, and 100 returns next tuesday.

Love them or hate them, they’ve really been weird about returning shows starting very late in the year with out much notice.

Season 3 and 4 have been weaker, no?

I find the show good, but no longer great.

I think the issues in season 4 are much more interesting - less ‘crime of the weekish’ - and Brother Love just can’t be missed.
