Damn now I feel my own mortality. The friggen icy hand of Death sure seems closer as I watched the Pizzaria get old and become abandoned. And teh Poor Dog getting older and older and sadder. Cripes I SEE DEATH EVERY WHERE NOW
Yep. After the exposure the team got working on this show (which is very highly regarded despite Fox’s attempts to destroy iy), they’ll be moving on to bigger and better things. If Fox ever does get around to renewing the show, it’ll be too late to get the team back together, and it wouldn’t be the same show.
It reminded me of an old story that supposedly took place in the 1800s. As the story goes, bobbies (British police constables) were expected to have a dog. One bobbie bought a terrier, it being a small, economical dog to keep. The terrier followed him around every night on his beat. Eventually the bobbie died. The dog stood vigil as the body was prepared, and followed the procession to the graveyard. When his master was buried, the little dog stood vigil over his grave. He subsisted on handouts until he too eventually died of old age, never leaving his master’s side.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. I normally love sick, cynical humor but this joke was just so drawn out and sad!
What the heck happened with Futurama? Why did Fox stop running it in the middle of last season? And why did they cancel it? As far as I know it was still getting good ratings (and good reviews). I really saw it as The Simpsons’ worthy successor and expected it to run 10+ seasons too!
And believe me, when a major network says they’re “not ordering any new episodes” this is the exact same thing as saying “canceled”. No non-cable TV network is going to devote a slot in prime time to reruns only.
Hail Ants: I think they stopped running it in the middle of last season because the ratings were down because they kept showing reruns because they wanted to save money by stopping new episodes mid-season. Or something like that.
That was so sad. It did make me cry, too. I’m not a guy, but this episode should be added to the list of movies that make it okay for a man to cry through.
That last scene/song…God that was so depressing…thinking of that poor little dog just waiting for Fry to come home. And Fry never even got to clone him. It was almost too sad.
Oh yeah did anyone notice Nibbler’s eyeball sticking out of the garbage can when Fry throws the pizza down? Weird! But cool.
People might have actually watched the show if it was on reliably, week after week! Instead it gets randomly pre-empted by sports. Sometimes they’ll even show an episode on the West Coast that they won’t show in the other time zones.
And people wonder why I download half the TV shows I watch from the Internet…
