And I will be following it. I love this show so much I could care less what network it is on. I just want to see what is going to happen this season. I know that Vincent D’Onofrio’s character lost his mother so he will probably be out of it for a while.
Not to mention he found out that His biological father might be a serial rapist and killer.
I know he has so much to deal with in this new season. I wonder how is going to be, if this will take away from his dynamic personality. I know they are going to be so worried about him. His character is one of my favorite parts of the show so I am really looking forward to seeing what happens. I feel like something might be up with his brother too the way he was acting with the mom situation.
Man, rip off SVU much? Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great character, but I don’t see the need to add that part in. It was fine when it was just his schizophrenic mom (and himself probably being a tad schizophrenic too.)
I would like to see them start paying attention to the legal side of things again. Last season, the show really should have been called & Order: Criminal Intent. Why they decided to bring in a new lawyer if they were just going to keep leaving her on the sidelines is beyond me.
I’ve always liked Vincent D’Onofrio’s character. He’s colorful, not just the run of the street detective.
Why, oh why, did they have to bring on Chris Noth? He makes Fearless Fosdick appear multidimensional. Is it just because he’s prettier?
I love this show, but I’m afraid we’re seeing the beginning of the jumping of the shark, when producers think they need to punch the show up a bit, make it a little more edgy. I’ve seen this on a lot of other good shows where the ratings apparently weren’t quite high enough (like the late, lamented Boomtown, where, among other things, they had to throw in a lesbian kissing scene that had absolutely no relevance to the plot line).
I thought the episodes were fine, and the little bits of D’Onofrio’s back story they dribbled out were more than enough to keep my interest.
grumble
Yeah, I noticed that several times over the last season they added pop songs to the sound track, apparently trying to make the scenes more poignant or something. This seems to be a minor trend in dramas these days.
I’m frightened of what they think they need to do to spice up House. I saw the new crop of ducklings on the Emmy red carpet and apparently they will be eliminating one character each week…??? Bwah?
As I remember Vincent D’Onofrio was exhausted by the production schedule, so Christ Noth was brought in to cut D’Onofrio’s workload. (They seem to alternate episodes.)
Yup. So one week you get a good episode with Goren and Eames and the next week you have the night off unless you want to watch Detectives Dull and Boring.
I don’t think they think that at all. I mean if we just look at how colorful and edge D’onofrio’s character is there is no reason they would have to “try and punch of the show”. I think that they are just giving us more insight on the characters that we have come to love so much, which is great to me. I feel like knowing more of the characters past helps us understand what makes them tick and a good move on the production end. I know I am much more invested in the show knowing more about the characters.
I actually like watching both of the different detective teams. My favorite is Bobby and Alex but they are both good and have a different approach that is good.
Yeah, but:
. . . the son of a serial rapist? And the one he happened to be tracking?!
To me, it’s crossed the line from giving us a bit of insight every week to making him into a freak. But I agree with you that everyone’s being a bit too hard on Noth. It’s still a good show.
But again, with House he is a great character, and they feel the need to fire half the actors and replace them with a Survivor-type deal. Leave well enough alone; just show House, Cuddy and Wilson and we’ll be fine.
