LAX DAD/MOM bumper stickers: Huh?

There may be another thread on this, but since you can’t search 3 letter words, I dunno. (Should be an exception when searching only titles, imo.)

Anyway, I’ve seen these stickers around: “LAX DAD” “LAX MOM”

They’re made to look like those faux European country stickers.

Are these folks claiming to be permissive parents? Do they have kids who work at the airport? Er whut?

I’d figure on them being parents of lacrosse players - that’s what I typically think of first when I see LAX (never having been to L.A.).

I can’t seem to prove it with a cite, though.

Here’s an example from ebay.

Lax=lacrosse

If your kid plays soccer you might call yourself a soccer mom… if they play lacrosse, you’re a LaxDad or LaxMom. Lacrosse is popular in my part of the country and these terms are in common usage here.

But what happens when the kids stop playing lacrosse?

Do the parents then have to replace the stickers on their cars with new ones saying “Ex Lax Dad” and “Ex Lax Mom”?

I just choked on my sandwich.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m no longer as ignorant was once I was!

Didn’t think of LaX… we had teams in FL, but never seen any around here.

Much obliged, Dopers!
