They’re quite popular around here: White vinyl stickers on the rear window of a vehicle, Mom, Pop, kidlets in assorted sexes and sizes, maybe the dog or cat. Sometimes simple stick figures, sometimes more elaborate. Usually on the back of an SUV or station wagon. Where do they get them?
I’ve never seen them for sale in a store or online. Is there some sort of sekrit parents’ store they give you the address to when you’re leaving the hospital with your new bundle of joy?
Dear me! People actually put those things on their cars?
I’ve obviously never seen them around here…but seeing those websites gave me a dastardly idea.
Someone should produce stickers in the same style that can be surreptitiously added to the array while the owner is away. These stickers would depict some “family members” that perhaps Mom doesn’t want to brag about to anyone driving behind her. Some examples:
–Dad’s Mistress
–Dad’s Secret Other Family
–Crazy Uncle Chained Up In The Attic
There’s a pickup truck I’ve seen around town that has a dozen front-side panel stencils of cats.
It also has 6 or 7 anti-cat bumperstickers (“Lost cat? Check under my tires!” “The only good cat is a dead cat”), a tire-flattened fake cat dangling from the back, rear window decals showing Garfield in a noose, tracks over a cat, Calvin pissing on a cat. I’m kinda thinking his front-panel stencils might be a legitimate count.
Heh. Too bad they didn’t have these in my grandparents’ day! Cuz Grandpa had one of those secret other families. (A secret that was kept from me until I was old enough to understand, i.e. over 30…)
