Returning to the ACTUAL topic… Left 4 Dead is a LOT of fun. The single player offline mode is sorta ‘eh’. But the coop and versus mode are a blast, particularly if you have a bunch of people you play with for a while. My old UT clan and I are wasting a bunch of hours killing zombies and each other.
Wherever your friends are, get it for that system.
If given a choice I always default to the PC for cross platform games. Unless the PC port is actually worse, which is happening more and more frequently these days.
Being Valve, L4D is flawless on PC. I’d get that version unless you like the 360 controller more for some reason.
Valve is primarily a PC developer so you don’t have to worry about it being a crappy port or something.
Assuming you have a modern PC, it should be better in pretty much every aspect - better resolution, more detail, smoother frame rates. If for some reason you prefer a gamepad controller, then use one. You can get one of many USB gamepads or get a $20 wireless receiver and use a wireless Xbox 360 controller.
If you want to play with other dopers, the PC group is far more active. We’ve had games with 6+ SDMB players going almost never night since release. I’m not sure but I get the impressionthat there hasn’t been a full SDMBer campaign game (4 players) yet.
There may have been. Who knows anymore? There are people playing either one, though.
Well, the guy seems like he’s capable of going either way and wants a reason. The SDMB steam group has been very active for this game and playing all-Doper games is a lot more fun than pub games for the most part. A lot of dopers aren’t FPS gods who can pull off headshots regularly, but they try to learn from their mistakes and play as a team which is more important in this game and is often something you don’t get from random players.
Most first-person shooters are about getting the headshot. Save the Tanks, this game doesn’t really reward you for a headshot.
I think there’s an Achievement for it, though.
Two - one for getting 50 headshots, and one for killing the Witch with a single headshot.
Gotcha.
So they don’t get you anything
Valve has always been first and foremost a PC developer. Prior to The Orange Box, the only games Valve released on consoles were ports from their PC releases, usually handled by other companies.
To answer the OP’s question, unless your PC is crap, or you have a ton of friends who already are playing it on XboxLive, go with the PC version.
