Ok, I checked it out of the library and read it, only because I’ve managed to get through the rest of the series.
The short review: Don’t bother.
Longer: really, don’t bother with this book. It’s the same as the rest of the books in the series, basically. This one tries to have more plot, but the problem is that they’ve made it pretty clear how the series ends - Jesus comes back - that there are no real shockers going on.
Buck is dead as of the end of the last book, Rayford is alive, barely. But luckily, they find him (some sort of ATV accident or something) and manage to revive him. Then, of course, as events clump forward toward the inevitable, everyone who’s sick or injured in Petra (where a lot of the believers have clumped together and are protected by God) is suddenly healed.
So Rayford goes sneaking off to where the GC forces are, ends up in the same room as Nicolae (Rayford’s been disguised as a black guy, so OF COURSE Nicolae doesn’t recognize him). He then sees the devil unpossessing Nicolae, speaking to Nick, then repossessing him. Blah, blah blah…it goes on like that.
Ooops…Jesus is back! Naturally, he’s got white hair and such - I don’t remember if the describe him as having blue eyes, but it wouldn’t surprise me much. From there on out, it’s lots of people talking about how wonderful Jesus is. Raford’s first wife and son are there (if you don’t remember, they were raptured back in the first book). And his second wife’s there too. But that doesn’t matter, because it sounds like sex is nonexistent after Jesus comes back.
Basically, it’s bad. I wouldn’t even bother reading it - only if you feel obligated (that was me) from having made it through the others. Don’t buy it though. You can probably get through it in the bookstore in a couple of hours. Or get it from the library.
