Left Coast DopeFest?

If we decide to go to Shasta Lake, we might as well all pitch in and try to rent a houseboat. Although they may already be all booked up for next year, but there’s not a whole ton of lodging in Shasta County. A few motels in Redding (where I lived for four years.)

Does not compute.

Actually if you take the I-10 west to I-215 north to I-15 north to US-395 north (don’t go to Barstow like the map says…save 35 miles by taking the 395 in Hesperia), it would be about the same or quicker and much, much more scenic.

Mapquest and Yahoo does a serious injustice by not including the US highways when computing distances and times (accurate).

I have family in San Luis Obispo, and I’m over due for a visit.

So I could kill two birds in one weekend.

Provided I can scrape up the $ to do it.

But we’re talking June-July, so it might be doable.

No offense, but you are out of your mind. Done it many, many times and know better. P to V, then north on 95. Hours, hours quicker.

Most everyone should be back from the holidays so I thought I’d bump this again.

Sacramento - Where my dad’s side of the family lives (except for him, rest his soul)
Ashland - Never been there, but have had some interest in going every time I passed it going to and from California.
Reno - GAMBLING!!!

The only way I could possibly trick my husband into taking me to this is if it were in the Reno/Tahoe area. If it’s there around the week of July 13 we’re almost always there (Tahoe) for his birthday, which usually coincides with the week of the celebrity golf tournament. Excellent celeb spotting opportunities - just sayin’!

Did you say…GAMBLING!!!

Aesiron, are the Reno/Tahoe numbers combined without duplication from voters? Reno and South Lake Tahoe are 57 miles apart, and Carson City is in the middle. Would this agree with most Tahoe/Reno voters?

Reno and Lake Tahoe events…June 25th and 26th looks nice!

They’re seperate from one another with no duplications. Reno was named eight individual times and Tahoe five.

We just spent Christmas in Tahoe, my first trip there ever.

I loved it. Really, really loved it. And all I’ve been saying since we’ve been back is I can’t wait to go back and check it out in the summer. It’s beyond gorgeous.

And, gambling! Heh, yea, you can count me in on that action.

I think my top 3 have changed to:

Tahoe (Reno, whatever.)
Ashland
Sacramento

Reno. RenoRenoRenoReno.

  1. Hotels are cheaper
  2. More and better restaurants
  3. More casinos
  4. Airport’s right there ($49 each way)
  5. Did I mention more casinos? Yes? Never mind.

Where could you possibly have a Dopefest except in Weed??? :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Ashland’s not too far from there either; thought I’d be more likely to make it in Sacramento.

Ashland, Sacramento, and Irvine.

Reno

Tahoe

Sacramento

Gambling, gambling, family.

Didn’t you read my post directly above yours before posting that, you maggot?

I’ll pu my two’pennith worth vote in for Sacrimento.

My offer to luluBahrain is also extended to any other Sacto area Dopers who are vehicle-less but wouldn’t mind travelling. Well. Up to 4 others, anyway.

Like I said earlier, where ever this ends up, I’ll be there, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Oregon, so put one more vote down for Ashland.

I vote for Ashland.

If you’ve never been to the Shakespeare Festival there, it’s fantastic. I’ve been trying to figure out a good reason to get up there this year and see Richard III, so this would be the perfect chance.

I would also be ok with San Luis Obispo (close to me) and anywhere in the SF bay area (close to family).
